  • Before I start my official campaign I think I would like to give you a picture of myself because I think its important for you to understand why I so strongly and sincerely wish to take on this role. I played NS on and off for a looooong time. Don't even really remember when I started. But when I joined Wintreath and started Melodi Isles I joined a region for the first time ever in Nation States. I took my time and did a lot of research lurking forums reading the recruitment telegrams lurking the regional boards on NS. I choose here over all the others for various reasons and I've never regretted it. I love it here I love you guys I love this region however there's a but here.

    Butttttttttttt

After I joined the region the forums and the discord I largely felt abandoned and forced to find my own way. Many times I felt ignored or like my questions or desire to learn everything to become involved was not being fostered here. I still feel like that, a lot more than I would like to. My goal is to make sure nobody who joins here and looking to be involved ever feels this way again.

I'd like to give a big shoutout to Chanku for helping me better understand the Underhausen when I got elected.

Wintermoot Pengu Lau and Silv have all helped me in various ways to understand things or just overall make me feel welcome.

Vro reached out to me to check on me when they could tell I was upset and that meant more than I'll ever properly be able to express.

I want to foster those experiences everyday. So the new members in Wintreath think "they have helped me understand and feel welcomed and accepted" instead of feeling like "why am I not being heard"

    On to the official campaign

    1) Why are you running for this position?

This is very important to me see above

    2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.

    1. Establish an easily accessible guide to Wintreath.

    2. Start a mentorship program of some sort that will connect willing guides with new members who want help getting involved.

    3. Personally greet every new member to establish a connection with them from the start.

    3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?

My only qualification is knowledge of the problems and a desire to fix them as a relative new citizen myself

    4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in March?

Despite my work I'm here a lot. I have access to Wintreath at work and outside of work I don't do much. Guess what I'm saying is I have no life.

    5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

    Nope

Thanks for you're time. I'm actually nervous about this I hope you'll support me on election day  :D :)) ^-^

  • In the interest of a fair contest should anyone else should choose to run for this office, I'd like to stress to the public at large that my vetting and approval does not represent an endorsement, tacit or otherwise, of a candidate, but merely that the candidate is capable, qualified, and serious, and to further highlight this I have traditionally and will continue abstaining from voting for any Thanes under Regional Affairs.

I'm optimistic about your platform - I think you've got some great suggestions that would be really helpful to newcomers, and if you're elected, I look forward to seeing how they play out!
I approve of your candidacy for this office.

  • Welcome to the campaign! I thought it was very well-written and earnest. :)

My one question is how will you go about hiring on mentors/guides and making sure that they're doing what they should be doing? Even when Point Breeze (considered to be our best integration official thus far) was running the mentor program, he wasn't sure if mentors were actually reaching out to the people they were supposed to. It's also been historically difficult to find people willing to take on the civil service, whether it be recruiters, mentors, writers, or ambassadors.

Thank you. So my ideas for a mentorship program are pretty out there compared to your standard mentorship practices (I think I've only looked into the mentorship programs elsewhere a tiny bit)

I'm looking to run the mentorship program as one big group instead of 1 on 1 like I've seen elsewhere. I have a lot of crazy ideas and I don't know what's feasible and what isn't so I will admittedly be myself selling the mentorship of veteran leaders like yourself or whoever wise in government to help establish a working program. But whatever form the program takes I fully intend on being heavily involved to ensure that everybody is taken care of and nobody is left out on their own.

As for getting people intrested in participating, I think that it's been shown that people in Wintreath want to help so I wonder if the lack of interest is because of commitment required? If so I think my idea will be revolutionary in that regard see below

What all would be the responsibilities of mentors? Do you think it would be a relatively difficult commitment?

The responsibilities will be to ensure every new member that needs help recieve a quick response to their questions about Wintreath. I'd also like to see the mentors reaching out to new members before questions are asked using their intro threads to help steer them towards the areas they'll be intrested in and explaining how to get involved there.

This sounds like a  lot but because I want to work as one unified team of mentors nobody will have to worry about if they can't get on and check on their mentee or if something comes up and they can't be online as much. Together we can canbalance the workload so nobody feels they're being overworked.

Will you finally spell "Underhusen" and "Overhusen" correctly, without the "a"? :P

Never because my phone only recognizes one  :))
