Title
1. This act to be titled as the Day of Reconciliation Amendment Act.

Statement
2.The Storting, wishing to commemorate the days of the Twenty-Second of February and Twenty-Third of February of the Year Two-Thousand-Twenty on which the November Crisis and February Crisis were finally closed and the restoration of the realm and the community within began, hereby puts forth this act so that we may remember what happened and to seek to avoid such crises and division in the future.

Amendments
3. This act shall amend the Wintreath Holidays Act.
4. A new Section, numbered Section 4, shall be added after Section 3 and shall read as follows:

4. "The Day of Reconciliation" is on the twenty-second (22nd) of February and the twenty-third (23rd) of February. It recognizes the events that lasted over those days, and how the Wintrean community was brought together once more as a result.

5. All subsequent sections shall be renumbered.

I hereby introduce this into the Underhusen for consideration, this aims to establish the Great Reconciliation as a regional holiday in Wintreath

In the thread where this was being discussed I saw the name Truth and Reconciliation so maybe we can change it to that. I think it will fit better with what happened, in that the truth was found.

Here's my suggestion of a revised version. I just changed the wording a little bit and made some style changes such as the quote in the middle. Also bolded "Title" and "Amendments." While we don't have a consistent style of legislature here, I believe most include quotes for amendments and bolded headers. I believe the "Amendment" word in the title can be removed since it says in Section 2 what it amends. I feel like @Chaku would know if I'm right about that.

I changed it to the Day of Rekindling; I also like the name. But it doesn't have to be that.

With that out of the way, I motion to expedite.

You seem to be missing periods at the ends of sections 2 and 4.

I don’t see any reason to expedite. The bill won’t affect anything until next February, and it doesn’t sound like we’ve reached a consensus on the name. I believe expediting is meant for bills that we all immediately agree with or that are time sensitive.

I posted a question in the Citizens Platform asking about Katie’s suggested name.

I personally support "the Day of Rekindling" more than "Truth and Reconciliation Day", therefore if it were to come to a vote, "the Day of Rekindling" would win. I see nothing else to be done.

I am not inactive, merely on a leave of absence, I am still taking note of the discussions that occur within these chambers and intend to return from my absence and speak on this in due time.

I do, however, fully agree with Mathyland that a motion to expedite is absolutely improper here. There are a handful of situations were expedition is proper:
1) The situation is of grave importance and needs action now (This has been used to pass seating acts/correction acts in the past)
2) There is no controversy in the bill, no any real debate to be had, aside from minor clerical corrections in the text of the bill itself. (An example was earlier in the session when we were fixing an error in an amendment that we passed and didn't catch until afterwards. This also fell into the urgent category as technically it lead to a minor issue within the Procedural Rules of the Chamber)

This situation is definitely not urgent in that manner -- we still have quite a bit of time before the expiration of the session and a few additional hours -- or if my fellow Skrifa would indulge until Saturday when I will have the time to return and discuss matters at length -- would not hurt the bill, nor is the bill so uncontroversial that no real debate is to be had.

In the interest to allow all active Skrifa to give their opinion on the bill, I motion to extend the debate by 48 hours.

Yeah I agree with Chanku and Mathyland, I think we should wait (we still have till February) and maybe we can get more of the community involved, since I think there are a number of absent people. In addition, I am in full support of Day of Rekindling, as I was just suggesting what I saw on the forum.

Now that I am back from my Leave of Absence, I wish to weigh in on this act. Personally I am not the biggest fan of the act as it currently stands, it does not really mention much about why this day is being a holiday, nor does it necessarily do the day justice in its naming. The name, while thematically correct, is minimizing what happened -- at least to me. As such I would oppose the bill as it stands, and I would personally write the bill in such a manner:

1. This act is to be cited as the Establishment of the Days of Reunion and Reconciliation Act.

Statement
2.
