Hello and welcome to Wintreath's 21st rendition of Werewolf. For the 20 past games, you've experienced the fun twists and turns of the game...the many different roles that can exist, and the endless possibilities of scenarios, outcomes, and overall excitement that Werewolf can have. You've gotten a chance to see it done professionally when one of our own members took on the Mafia Championships, and you've seen it in its original scenario in the beginning, albeit with a twist.
So with Werewolf 21, we're giving the biggest twist of all: A game that goes back to the original scenario with the original roles. No unnecessary convoluted roles, no unnecessary convoluted rules. It'll be Werewolf as you may have first known it, simple and accessible to anyone who wants to join whether they're beginners, moderate werewolf players, or experts in the game.
We'll be revisiting the humble village in the forest in the mountains where tragedy first took place, and we'll reset the field. This will be the Werewolf Origin story re-imagined and rebooted for a possibly new audience of players. For anyone who
is new to the game, here is how it is played:
The game will start off in what is called a
Day Phase, which goes for 72 hours (the rest of the Day Phase periods go for 48 hours). During this day phase, players will vote as a whole in the game topic on who they believe the Werewolf or Werewolves in the group are. At the end of each day phase, votes are tallied and the person with the highest amount of votes is "lynched" or removed from the game.
The game then at that point transitions into what is called the
Night Phase. During this time, players who were assigned a "power" role (which would be assigned in a PM before the game begins) have a chance to use their powers in a PM to the game host. Other players, on the other hand, would be considered "asleep" at this time, so no voting would happen during this time.
After the night phase deadline, it would transition to a new Day Phase, and thus the cycle would repeat.
The game itself ends when either: The number of werewolves outnumber or equal the number of living players, or the living good players (also known as "Villagers") have equally lynched all of the werewolves.
The roles in the game go as followed:Villagers: The most common role in Werewolf. During each Day Phase, they discuss vote as a collective on who they believe a Werewolf is. During the night, they keep silent since they're "asleep" during this time.
Werewolves: The main antagonist of the game with the same title. During each day phase, they vote with the collective and try to get innocent villagers killed, using their wits and cunning to paint suspicion onto others. During each night phase, as a group they decide on a villager to lynch to help thin the numbers. If they're successful, it'll be known as to who their latest victim was. If they choose to kill the same person that a Defender protects, their kill will be unsuccessful.
Defenders: The protectors of the villagers. During each day phase, they vote with the collective on who they believe the werewolves are. During each night, they each can choose 1 person to protect from a possible Werewolf attack, and can't defend themselves (but one can protect the other). They also cannot protect the same person for two consecutive nights. A defender will not know whether their protection was successful aside from the person possibly still being alive the next day. But they will be given no indication that their defense countered a werewolf strike. If there are multiple defenders (normally there are 2), they both will know each other.
Seer: The eyes of the villagers. During each day phase, they vote with the collective on who they believe the werewolves are. During each night, the seer can choose one person to "Scan" in a PM to the Game Host, in which the Host will tell the seer what the role of the chosen person is. If the seer scans a good guy, they can choose to enlist that player into the "Seer's Army" which is a PM built up of the Seer and their scanned allies. If a defender is scanned, the seer will get access to both defenders if both are still alive. If the scanned player is also a successful Werewolf target, the attack will take presidence and the player will die with their role revealed for all. If the scanned player is a Werewolf, the seer can use this knowledge in the game as they choose, knowing full well the risk of outting themselves being a possible death sentence for both the Werewolves and mob.
And here are the rules:1) The first Day Phase will be 72 hours. Each Day Phase afterward will be 48 hours, with each night phase being 24 hours. Phases will start and end in
Pacific Standard Time. If you need an idea of what time that'd be for you, the example would be that once this topic is posted, it'll be around roughly 5:45 to 6PM Pacific Standard Time. At the end of each Day Phase, the night phase will immediately start when the results from the Day Phase are posted, the same goes for the Night Phase.
2) When lynched or killed in a Werewolf strike, players will be invited to a PM to spectate the events of the game and talk amongst themselves. Players are also welcome to say goodbye in the thread once they're killed before moving to the PM. Dead players are not allowed to hint or make references to any roles they have any knowledge of (IE a dead seer revealing a werewolf).
3) Defenders know each other at the start, and can defend each other. They cannot defend themselves, nor can they defend the same person for two consecutive nights. If a seer scans a defender, they get both.
4) The Seer is welcome to share any knowledge they learn so long as they're still alive in the game. However, because this is a game of liars, a Seer's findings will be seen at face value and as a possible death sentence either at the hands of the mob, or at the werewolves.
5) You will have
one chance to vote "No Lynch" in the game, however you are allowed to vote to lynch yourself as much as you choose. Keep in mind that voting to lynch yourself does not come without risk if it suddenly starts a bandwagon of people choosing to vote for you...
6) To vote during each day phase, please
bold your choice for the host to see, an example being
Vote: Lynch Sapphiron.
7) During each night phase, Power Roles (Defenders, Seer, Werewolves) will send the Game Host a PM with their choices that night. Werewolves will decide as a group, defenders will choose individually (but can strategize their choices together), and the seer will decide soley (but can consult with any known allies in the PM on who to choose).
And that's it! Any questions? Feel free to send me a PM or ask away in this thread, and I'll clear things up. While you're waiting for signups to conclude, also please check out the following threads to help you get started if you're new to the game.
