Katie: Elegance, Efficiency, Engagement
Hi everybody! I'm Katie, incumbent Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions (formerly known as Thane of Ambassadors), and I am re-running for my position! I am also running for Thane of World Assembly Affairs, in the hope that we can have some new blood in the position. Currently, I am not a member of any other NS regional or organizational government, as Wintreath has been my one and only NS home since August of 2018!
Also, I am a follower of the Church of Amalya, if that matters to anyone
As Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions, I've been upholding my mandate by maintaining the points system, dealing with embassy and ambassador applications, and assisting with the establishment, revival, or decommissioning of relations with other regions. I've also been training Ombuds to become full ambassadors. In the coming term, my goal is to find a way to keep ambassadors active during inter-publication periods, and hopefully do so in a way that is fun but non-obligatory, so as to not interfere with their real-life needs.
As Thane of World Assembly Relations, I would like to (if time allows) begin posting small snippets of each World Assembly vote. Hopefully, this will achieve the goal of making people more interested in the World Assembly and that way I can more accurately survey the populace for public opinion. In the future, I want to make these updates longer, and I would like to start including them in the Orendi.
I will also make sure to continue Robin's legacy of fun, engaging polls on the RMB.
Additionally, I will be committed to ensuring that this region has a high proportion of WA, delegate-endorsing nations. I will reach out to the North Pacific and consult with our previous delegates to come up with a concrete plan as to how we get this done.
I have gained plenty of Foreign Affairs experience in my almost 12 months of experience as Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions. I have established or assisted in the establishment of 13 embassies, almost a quarter of all embassies ever established with Wintreath. I have also taken part in more comprehensive efforts to revive relations with inactive regions such as The East Pacific.
This also ties in partially to the WA Delegacy, as there will be gameplay knowledge that I will need to obtain. I was part of gameplay for years, and I was acutely aware of what was happening and what SC resolutions meant what. I am committed to returning to that mindset, and with the help of Chanku, our gameplay advisor, no more will be the era of uninformed SC votes!
I also have some amount of World Assembly experience, serving as Cynosure's Councillor of World Assembly Affairs for about 10 months. I have also almost always had a WA nation that votes on legislation, and I always make sure to look critically at each one to ensure that I know its effects. Somewhere I can improve by being Thane of World Assembly Affairs is seeing what stats are affected by which aspect of the bill.
I also have quite a bit of experience with polling and regional interaction, seeing as it falls under our Regional Affairs department. Firstly, I was the Outreach Officer in the Rejected Realms for almost 6 months, and in that time I learned how to create fun polls and also maintained our regional guides. Secondly, I was Thane of Integration here in Wintreath, and during that period I learned how to properly interact with the populace.
Sadly I am going through a rather busy time in my life. I'm in my final year of University and with my low grades and on-time graduation being the utmost priority, I will be putting much of my focus towards school. However, that hasn't stopped me thus far and it won't stop me now! I'll be graduating in May, and if I haven't picked up by then, you can have your vote money back, guaranteed!
Thank you all so much for reading this! I hope I have convinced y'all to vote for me. I highly enjoy serving the people in Wintreath and I hope I can do so for the foreseeable future!
