A few days ago, a number of Citizens decided to leave the region after a series of events that largely took place in private, between groups and individuals, through Discord DM and group chats. Some Citizens left because they felt aggrieved by the powers that be, particularly myself and the Discord ops team; some left due to the stress of the situation; and others left simply because they couldn't stand to see the region divided. Understandably, those who remain have many questions about what happened, but because of the way it took place it's currently nearly impossible to provide answers that aren't biased in one way or another.

Usually, this would be an issue for the ops team to look into. However because the ops team was a party in the matter, it isn't possible for them to do so in a way that would be perceived as objective. Therefore, I have decided to establish an independent commission for the purpose of providing a full account of the circumstances leading up to these departures, providing recommendations to prevent such a series of events from happening again, and any other goals relevant to this matter that the commission wishes to establish.

The Commission will be made up of Doc as Chair, Ruguo, and Melehan. They have been selected because they were not involved in the events that happened, have not expressed a biased opinion on the matter as far as I am aware, and I believe can be trusted by the community to be impartial and objective in their considerations. I am thankful that each of them has agreed to perform this service for the region and the community.

I imagine that this work will take some time, so I would ask for patience while they do their work. However, I hope that the result will provide the community with a complete and objective account of what lead to the events that exploded into public view over the weekend, along with insights that will prevent this from happening again in the future.

Good, i like that this is being done. I agree that we couldn't be objective, so I'm glad they objective people have been chosen.

Will the commission be doing live hearings?

We're trying to coordinate things at the moment and figure out how to approach the situation without making things worse, so the answer at the moment is "I don't know".

I will say that, due to my work schedule, if there are live hearings, it's unlikely that I will be able to attend them in full (or at all), though I'll definitely be reviewing the logs and all the other evidence compiled when I can.

I've been away mostly for a while on discord because IRL has been SUPER busy.  What exactly happened?  (Sorry for being so royally out of the loop folks. :s )

It is an incredibly long story that even I don't know the full picture for. I don't even know how to begin to describe it.

No one has the full picture at the moment, and one of the first things the commission needs to do is put together a fuller picture, which is tricky because a lot of things occurred in private between friends.
