The Monarch's Fifth Ice Cream Social

Greetings to everyone running for Underhusen, everyone watching them, and everyone considering voting for them! I originally started this event because there hadn't been a steak fry for some time, and since then I've just kept doing it each election. And who wouldn't want to come to the Castle and enjoy some delicious ice cream, anyways?

This is an opportunity for candidate to talk about themselves, their ideas and opinions on the issues, and explain why they're running and why you should vote for them...while having unlimited amounts of free ice cream. So let's get this thing started!


1. First, introduce yourself, especially to voters that may not be familiar with you. Why are you running for Underhusen?

2. What's your favourite memory of Wintreath so far?

4. What one person from Wintreath's past or present would you most consider a role model for yourself, and why?

1. First, introduce yourself, especially to voters that may not be familiar with you. Why are you running for Underhusen?
Hello! I'm Ruguo! I've been around the forums for about nine months now, and while I've mostly stayed in the cultural side of things, I'm running for Underhusen because I want to try something new and hopefully learn something along the way.

2. What's your favourite memory of Wintreath so far?
My favourite Wintreath memory comes from playing cards against humanity on the discord. BOXES! BOXES EVERYWHERE!

3. And your favourite part of Wintreath currently?
I like the people. The people this community attracts are all interesting and I can always count on a laugh from someone when needed.

4. What one person from Wintreath's past or present would you most consider a role model for yourself, and why?
I would most consider Gerrick as a role model because he's always active, always trying to help, and so encouraging all the time. He's all over the place, doing so many things and it's amazing.

5. What do you believe you bring to the table as a potential member of the next Underhusen?
I am really not bringing much to the table. I can write, I can edit, but I'm mostly looking to learn when I first enter the Underhusen. I would be able to find logic flaws and participate actively in debates, for what it's worth.

6. What do you believe is our region's biggest strength at the moment, and how would you capitalize on it?
Our region's strength comes from the community. It's supportive, large, and has many shared interests among it. I see this as an opportunity to try and get more people to stay active, if we can only make a little more effort to welcome everyone. This is something I have failed at and would like to change going forwards. Even if not elected, I will try to be more like Mones in welcoming every single new forum member, and try and catch the newest people on the discord.

7. What do you believe is our region's biggest weakness at the moment, and how would you fix it if you could?
Our biggest weakness is that no one really knows what's going on behind the scenes. Moot does a great job when updating things and keeping us informed, and I think the government needs to do something similar. Perhaps a thread where we lay out what we are doing and when to make things easier to follow. Overall I think we could just use a bit more organization.

8. Inactivity has continued to be an issue in the Underhusen. What are your thoughts on the activity of the outgoing Storting, and how will you remain active and on top of things if elected this term?
I will be on the forums more than normal if elected. I will try and respond within the day for all tags or debates. I can even set aside a chunk of time for UH stuff during the day. The outgoing stirring was pretty active, and I only hope the new one will be as well.

9. If you are elected, what's something you would be able to do from your position to build activity in the region, and especially on the forums?
I think the most obvious answer here is to talk to people. Really make them feel that their voices are being heard on both a personal and professional level. People are drawn to places they feel heard, and I want to see the forums become that place.

10. Are there any other issues in the region you feel that the candidates running for election should address?
It's easy to feel lost coming in here. How can we simplify things and make coming into the region a little bit easier and bite sized?

11. Finally, what is your favourite flavour of ice cream? Chocolate Vanilla Swirl!

12. Oh yeah, we have a toppings bar now. What's your favourite ice cream topping? Sprinkles. Especially the crunchy ones.

1. First, introduce yourself, especially to voters that may not be familiar with you. Why are you running for Underhusen? I'm running to try to help out Wintreath however I can, and be a productive member of the region.

2. What's your favourite memory of Wintreath so far? Probably the fun nights with the community, and always there to help out.

3. And your favourite part of Wintreath currently? My cursed memes The enjoyment we have sharing memes with eachother

4. What one person from Wintreath's past or present would you most consider a role model for yourself, and why? As much as this may seem like ass-kissing, I'd actually probably say Jason (Wintermoot). He has been there to help me a lot when I needed it, and I'd like to think I've helped him at least just a bit myself.

5. What do you believe you bring to the table as a potential member of the next Underhusen? Since I've been here for 4 years, I think I might have some perspective that others might not have that while they may have more experience with government, I hope to think I have experience with the community.

6. What do you believe is our region's biggest strength at the moment, and how would you capitalize on it? Probably the community. I'd try to spread it a bit, and try to see if we can improve.

7. What do you believe is our region's biggest weakness at the moment, and how would you fix it if you could? I'd say the out of nation, out of Discord/forums aspect. While our good friend, Elb the Kiwi, might be onto something with the One-Shots of DnD, I think we need more of that, and I hope that we can organize this.

8. Inactivity has continued to be an issue in the Underhusen. What are your thoughts on the activity of the outgoing Storting, and how will you remain active and on top of things if elected this term? It was decent, more active than the one I was in. I'll try to be more active on the forums, and more active in the relevant discord chats, and try to get better with the government foci.

9. If you are elected, what's something you would be able to do from your position to build activity in the region, and especially on the forums? Try to continue to strive for the activity maybe off of site, off of Discord, in the form of region games, or perhaps on forum, or discord, make some competitions.

10. Are there any other issues in the region you feel that the candidates running for election should address? Hm, I'd not really say, though I'm not well-versed in foreign affairs.

11. Finally, what is your favourite flavour of ice cream? Chocolate chip cookie dough, sue me.

Hi, I'm Katie, 6-term Skrifa and Officer of Information. I've been active in Wintreath since August of last year after serving as the South Pacific's Ambassador to Wintreath and working alongside Wintermoot and Chanku to better the situation in Lazarus.

I'm running for the Underhusen because I have an overwhelming dedication to this institution. I wouldn't be running again if I didn't! I have high hopes and immense faith that the Underhusen can be a force for betterment in Wintrean society, whether that be through preparing newer members of our community for higher government work (as it did for me), or lobbying our Cabinet to action through legislation. I have several bills in progress that can make real changes to the way Wintreath's culture operates (as well as some less-interesting Underhusen procedural amendments ).

My favorite memory of Wintreath so far is playing on our Tekkit server with members of our community such as Elbbsas, Chanku, and taulover. I love playing games with fellow Wintreans, including when I participated in the most recent Spyfall and Arena games, playing on our Vanilla Minecraft server, and contributing to our weekly Cards Against Humanity sessions. It's this that constitutes my favorite part of the Wintrean community. I think Wintreath has three main core segments to its culture: Roleplay, Relaxed Chatting, and Gaming, and it's Gaming that is one of my favorites.

My role model in Wintreath would have to be our monarch, Wintermoot. He's always been a calming, mediating presence. I've never seen him lose his cool, he is immensely dedicated to doing what is best for Wintreath, and does more behind-the-scenes work than I could ever do. He is kind and charming, and I aspire to be like him.

This term I plan to run for the Speakership a third time, and I want to use that position to bring new blood to the Underhusen leadership. I want to revamp the Speaker Pro Tempore position, either make it more useful and powerful or reduce it to a temporary position. I also want to introduce legislation adding substantial new power to the Underhusen as a whole. This way we can act in our fullest capacity to change our community for the better. No longer will we be an obsolete, weak, and quiet branch!

Today, Wintreath's biggest strength is its community. In the past two months, I've seen a resurgence in community involvement at the cultural level, and I want to capitalize on that by bringing the UH to these people.

Its biggest weakness, however, is our lack of civil activity. The Ambassador program that I've built is much better than it has ever been, but it still needs big improvement. I must find a way to give ambassadors something to do between releases of the Orendi. Additionally, recruitment is at very low levels, and I hope to work with the Cabinet to increase recruiting efforts to people beyond just the Monarch. I myself have been working actively to recruit new members over the past month.

However, there's also a weakness in government activity, especially in the Underhusen. I admit that I don't think the UH should be extraordinarily active, as a good legislature shouldn't have to be continuously active. However, these past terms were not excusable in my opinion. In the 33rd term, motions sat on the floor unseconded for over a month in some cases, and so very little was accomplished. This past term was a bit better, but as usual, it trailed off as the term went on. Finding a consistent duty or power the Underhusen can exercise is the key to keeping it relevant to the people.

This coming term I will make it a point to notify every Skrifa of motions, new legislation, and votes on the floor. Additionally, communication between the Overhusen and Underhusen could use some improvement. This is why I also aim to continue notifying them through Citizen's Platform posts, but also over Discord if possible.

One issue that I think no other candidates are addressing is that of our foreign isolationism.

Hello, I am ShadowX4life. I have been on Wintreath for almost a year, but due to college, I couldn't interact as much with everyone here. I'm running for Underhusen because of this region and its community is really welcoming and nice. Therefore I want to help make it even better.

2. What's your favourite memory of Wintreath so far?

In NS, I to RP for the first time and the people were very patient and fun. We then had more RP sessions with more people. Now I'm on Discord mostly and the people there are truly amazing and interesting.

3. And your favourite part of Wintreath currently?

My favorite part is the Discord community. I'm on Discord most of the time and the people there are truly amazing and interesting.

4. What one person from Wintreath's past or present would you most consider a role model for yourself, and why?

My role model in Wintreath is a person by the name of Marzipan. This person is kind, understanding, outgoing, and a good leader.

5. What do you believe you bring to the table as a potential member of the next Underhusen?

I would bring to the Underhusen new ideas and energy to it. By energy, I mean enthusiasm to the job and encourage more people to run for it in the next election.

6. What do you believe is our region's biggest strength at the moment, and how would you capitalize on it?

The community is our biggest strength. We have people from all different backgrounds, with different thoughts, and their willingness to help out in any way they can.

7. What do you believe is our region's biggest weakness at the moment, and how would you fix it if you could?

Our biggest weakness is that people forget to log on and become inactive due to real-life situations.

8. Inactivity has continued to be an issue in the Underhusen. What are your thoughts on the activity of the outgoing Storting, and how will you remain active and on top of things if elected this term?

My thought's of the outgoing Storting is that it is doing a good enough job. I will stay on top of things if elected and I will be proposing bills as well.

9. If you are elected, what's something you would be able to do from your position to build activity in the region, and especially on the forums?

I believe the best way is to engage other people. What drew me into Wintreath was that its community made me feel welcomed and that my voice is being heard on both a personal and professional level. I'm very certain that other people want to feel the same and if they do get that feeling, they'll be drawn to here. All of that will make the forums here more lively and active.

10. Are there any other issues in the region you feel that the candidates running for election should address?

No at this present moment. Reason being this is my first time running.

11. Finally, what is your favourite flavour of ice cream?

My favorite ice cream flavor is peanut butter.
12. Oh yeah, we have a toppings bar now. What's your favourite ice cream topping?

I would have to go with Reese's Pieces.
