~ For the 35th Underhusen ~

Hi, so instead of copypasting my campaign from the last term like I usually do, I want to go back to the roots of my first election and write my campaign from scratch.

I've been in the Underhusen for almost a year continuously now, and as much as I'd like to say I've done a lot, I haven't. In fact, nobody has, save for maybe Chanku. The legislature was never meant to be a busy, active place. It's meant to pass meaningful laws that affect the people of Wintreath.

However, I've been dedicated to the institution that is the Underhusen since the moment I was first elected. I am familiar with most if not all procedural rules, have passed more laws than anyone else in Wintreath (except Chanku), and I have served as the Officer of Information for 6 terms in a row. I plan to continue my work in the Underhusen, and if you expect me to ask the people "what they want" again, then you're SOL, because not that many people really care about the UH, and those that do will either ask their questions on their own or already have the answers.
 
I do promise you all: I am one who cares about the Underhusen. Sure, I have had periods of inactivity due to school, vacations, laziness, etc. But that doesn't mean I'm unwilling to step up to the plate when I need to. I've consistently published a report on Underhusen events for 6 terms. I've been late to only 2 votes in my entire UH career, and I served as Speaker Pro Tempore in the 33rd term. I hope to become Speaker of the UH this term so that I can further show my dedication to our legislature.

I do think it needs to be addressed. As I said in the Discord earlier today, the UH doesn't have real, tangible power outside of Citizenship law, a power we rarely exercise, and so why should people care about it, especially people on-site? And it's not like we can just give the UH more power. This is a Monarchy, not a Republic.

Personally I think the "give the UH more power" thing is overrated anyways. It's not as if the Monarchy actually exercises much power usually. But that being said, if that isn't the answer, how do we address it? Why should people care about it?

I think giving the UH more power is the answer, actually, and this question is hard to answer without that power, but I digress. The reason people should care more about the UH in its current form is that it serves as a significant stepping stone for new, active citizens on their way to higher, more impactful roles in the community. I would highly recommend someone be a part of the Underhusen before they try out a cabinet role solely because it gives them an interior look on Wintreath's government and a reason for them to observe more closely members of that government perform in their roles.

That’s the part i’m unsure of. Perhaps more decision power over citizenship, or we would vote on the establishment of embassies. Things that are common just to keep activity up and root out those who aren’t passionate.
