    Major Occurences
    • Retiva, the two time Supreme Chancellor resigns.
Retiva, or Penentayl, resigned recently, and also disbanded his party recently. He resigned due to personal reasons. His largely successful party DVP was also disbanded, as the members scattered around. Following him, Aurelian Wonderland, his vice chancellor became the SC.
RWA has been a long time ally of TDR, which has been an ally of Aukumnia, and so, RWA proposed embassies which could eventually lead to a three way alliance. So, the embassies were established with them. Similarly, a request was sent to KoGB for the establishment of embassies, which was followed by a discussion between the officials. Once a consensus was met, the embassies were established, with hopes for closer ties in the future.
    • Region recovers from a spell of inactivity
At the start of March, the region seemed to have plunged into a phase of inactivity, from which recovery seemed all but impossible, at the time. So, the founder had declared that the region would close soon, however, with the timely intervention of The Eternal Imperials, the danger was averted and a committee set up to decide the path ahead. Ultimately, the region has now recovered, with activity coming back and all the bodies being functional once again.
    • Chamber Elections conclude. CFP forms the majority.
The 11 seat chamber was formed with CFP having 4 seats, followed by DVP (now dissolved) with 3, then Valtrad with 2 and ARP with 1, and one independent. CFP seems to have benefitted the most from the new electoral system, as they have a number of indidivual personalities, as compared to the other parties.
Of all the candidates, he won with the most votes, having an enormous lead over others. He ran on the grounds of making real changes in the region and improving the region's standing abroad, an idea that has resonated with many. After winning the elections, he was sworn in and he proposed his cabinet.
The region of Conventia, which is the last remaining entity promoting conventist ideology, which is denounced by Aukumnia, was recently hit with a fatal attack by Wyerd who ejected a number of nations, changed their appearance and so forth, when it was noticed that he was registered as a Regional Officer in the region.

This covers all the updates in March. Though, so far, a number of new events happened, so I'll add a couple more updates :P

    • Imperial Party Created. Becomes the largest party. Gets a majority in the Chamber.
Retiva came back into the poitical limelight after his resignation as the chancellor a month back by creating The Imperial Party. The party, thanks to his aggressive recruitment campaigns, gained a lot of members almost overnight. As the party reaches a week mark, it has over 11 members and is the largest political party in the region. However, the successes do not stop there. The party was created weeks before the Chamber elections which happened the last weekend. They gained a majority of 7 out of 12 members of the Chamber. They are followed by CFP with 3 seats, while Valtrad has 1 and there is an independent representative.
    • Chamber approval ratings plummet.
Along with the results for the Chamber elections, the approval ratings were released which showed another low approval for the previous Chamber. This followed a trend of declining approval for a while as the chamber was gripped by inactivity. A reason for that was attributed to the political elites that were getting themselves elected to the chamber constantly, but not being productive. As a result CFP suffered in the following elections while the robust and bold TIF filled with newcomers dominated the Chamber.
    • Roleplay discussions underway
The region's roleplay has been a constant matter of concern. Changing from time to time, the region's roleplay has struggled to take off. The character RP done by a number of veterans is stable and consistent, though typically range from biweekly to monthly, the map RP has struggled to survive amidst lack of interest from the participants and spells of inactivity from the administration. The 40k themed RP was an attempt to change that, however, due to the lack of interest of the administration, it has also died out. Right now, the council is debating on a WWII themed RP and so forth. Whether it will take off or not is to be seen.
A few months back, TDR and Aukumnia were essentially the closest of allies. However, since the last few months, their administration showed less and less interest in building ties and instead resorted to more desperate measures to conserve a disappearing link through treaties. Amidst the chaos, they also closed their embassy without giving a reason for it and demanded a treaty to keep the embassy. Ultimately, a few weeks back, the embassy was closed. However, the last few days saw the TDR diplomats exchanging remarks and being involved in a heated argument regarding their internal affairs against the Aukumnians. Ultimately as it went out of hand, the diplomats were promptly kicked. The new administration explained it was the fault of the previous administration that they wished to repair. However, the region maintained the stance that it would only be open to relations in a months time, once the two regions have settled down and are ready to talk in a more civilised manner.

That's all I can think of so far.

Oh and another thing since this is the first post. I'll briefly explain how our system is. We have a party based political system with the chamber at the center. The chamber has representatives that are elected on a monthly basis, headed by a speaker. The executive is headed by an elected Supreme Chancellor who appoints his cabinet and get it approved by the Chamber. The Judiciary is also appointed by the SC and approved by the Chamber, however, they have lifetime terms. Finally, we have a founder, Xadrya, who only steps in in emergency cases, and basically manages the elections and the like.

So yep. That's all for now.

Hope you guys have a fantastic day \[T]/

Latest Issue of the Aukumnia Times - Issue IV

    Major Occurences
    • A new party, The Imperial Front, emerges and dominates the Chamber
TIF was created by Retiva, after taking a short break from politics, and instantly shot to popularity due to its interesting campaign platform, activity and the novel and aggressive ways of campaigning. As a result, within a week of its establishment, it instantly grew to be the largest party. Soon after, a number of its members ran in the following Chamber elections close to the mid of April, and dominated the results with as many as 7 seats. In the following days, the chamber was extremely active, and even now, has a huge pile of legislations that are in queue, as the chamber witnessed a huge spurt in activity.
    • Legal loopholes emerge as a number of cases filed in the Court
Another major incident was a number of court cases filed. It started with the Speaker Act not being legal for despite being a constitutional amendment, it was never voted on by the public. So, following that, the SC was warned for dereliction of duty (for the President of the Chamber was acting as the Speaker). The next case was filed against the founder as the campaign laws were vague and raised the question of whether RMB also falls under the said laws. The court ultimately ruled in favour of the founder claiming the laws were too vague. It sets an important precedent as the laws in the region need to be strengthened and clarified.
    • An intense SC race concludes as Equilaria, the Imperial Front candidate, emerges victorious
As previously mentioned, TIF was formed and instantly rose to popularity. In the chamber, they were rather active which further boosted their popularity. As a result, the lead up to the SC elections felt rather one sided as the other candidates threatened to never stand a chance. However, in an unprecedented move, the opposition parties, namely Valtrad, CFP and ARP, came together, forming a coalition, against the Equilaria candidate by pitching in their own. Jeb ran against the TIF candidate, while Trev, a newcomer, also ran, actively attacking TIF on various fronts. As a result, the race became rather intense as all the sides were quite tense, with number of mud slinging from both the parties. It even witnessed political cartoons for the first time in a long while, which boosted the campaign and interest in general. Ultimately, the elections showed a record high participation of 40 voters, which concluded with TIF's victory yet again as they now dominate most of the bodies.
    • Major legislations passed
A number of key controversial legislations were passed which would certainly impact the region in a lot of ways. The chamber's term started with the passing of the Contempt Act which was passed rather hurriedly, and later on, a number of concerns regarding the same were brought up. A key legislation passed was the establishment of the military as a Ministry rather than a department. This in turn helps the military being taken more seriously as a committed minister would work on the same. And to that end, appointments were made, with hopes of the military being active.
A region that is on good terms with Aukumnia, NWA, recently declared it was closing. As a result, a successor region, New Western Empire, was to be formed where all the nations can move and continue. However, another off-shoot of the region emerged, namely, Apothia, which had it's own plans after the closure. Whether either, or both, will end up growing to the size of their predecessor and establish themselves is to be seen.

Don't think I missed anything. So yep. Cheers!

Edit : turns out. I did.

So, there's a little something we are experimenting with called a Writer's library which in essence is basically a library which would have a collection of various kinds of literary writings that a reader could access easily and stuff. if it interests you guys, do check it out and stuff :P

Hope you guys have a wonderful day! \[T]/

  • Not an update per se, but well, a major event happened so I figured I'd let you guys know about it

Our founder, Xadrya has decided to step down and take a break from NS, for the time being. And as such, he was succeeded by Van Demeins Land (who had briefly served as the founder when Xadrya was impeached by the courts).

You can read VDL's statement on the same here

Apart from that, we are heading into our chamber election which starts in less than a week, so that's fun. Considering for how long Xadrya has been the founder and been involved in the region, it'd be rather interesting to see how the region performs in his absence :P

Latest Issue of the Aukumnia Times - Issue V

    Major Occurences
    • Chamber elections conclude with TIF and AFP battling for dominance
After a Chamber dominated by the TIF, the next elections were held on the 11th, which followed a new policy by the founder of the time, Van Demeins Land. He, succeeding Xadrya, had decided to have half the number of seats to the total number of registered candidates. As such, an 8 seat chamber was formed. The elections saw a tight race as TIF's dominance seemed rather over, as it was challenged by CFP (now renamed to AFP). The new chamber was formed with 3 seats to TIF and AFP each, and 2 to ARP. The Speaker was elected from ARP and the chamber set off to work. While as a whole it may not look to be the most active, it has been doing it's duties every now and then, which is promising.
    • Aukumnia Deleted by the Founder
Xadrya left the region, looking to take a break, and appointed Van Demeins Land as his successor. VDL has started off his term by claiming to have faith in the institutions and the like, however, became increasingly interventionist, overusing his powers wherever possible. This came to the peak when he illegally removed the powers of the Minister of Defence, which took him to the court for abuse of power. As rumours grew that it was certain that he would be impeached, filled with paranoia, he instantly decided to delete the region, all it's factbooks, regional discord and all of it's institutions in one fell swoop. This led to some to go to Xadrya, who returned to the region with his back-ups of the factbooks and worked swiftly to reinstate the discord and institutions. As such, the region was back once again under the name of Aukumnian Imperium. While the region's size has suffered, it does show promise, as the activity is steadily rising.
    • Retiva's Term
Equilaria was elected with quite a massive support, however, went inactive the moment he was elected. As such, within a week or so, left the region and founded a new one. This led to his vice chancellor, Retiva, assuming responsibilities yet again. He brought a number of novel ideas to the table however, his term was eclipsed by the immediate need for revival of Aukumnia that rose with the deletion of the region. And as such, he worked towards rebuilding of institutions and the like. As his term drew to a close, initially he sought to seek a re-election but decided against it in the lights of real life issues. So, he decided to take a break and as such, resigned from all his positions. Prozera assumed control of TIF and ran for SC in his stead. His term was largely overshadowed by his attempts at revival of the region, however, his role in the region was unforgettable and immense.
    • A Redefined SC
The recent legislation gave the SC greater control over his own chamber, which finally came into use with the new SC, Prozera, who won a close race against Red/ Gil Lodihr of the AFP. Prozera abolished the Ministry of Interior and instead gave the ability to update records to the Ministry of Justice, and created the Ministry of Recruitment and Integration, noting the immediate need to further expand the community, following the deletion. He also expects to make the cabinet active and work on making a lot of ambitious progress, by setting a high bar for the SC, however, how far will his ambitions be realised, and whether they will leave a lasting positive impact, is to be seen. In all, his term will be seen with some interest.
    • Key Legislations
The last month was filled with a number of amendments to the constitution as the recent times saw a number of cases being raised with regards to a number of loopholes and vagueness in the constitution. These changes included making fixing loopholes, clarifying existing legislations and repealing a number of laws. However, when the region was deleted, the founder, Xadrya, decided to use the opputunity to collect opinions on what direction the region should head in. It was decided that a democratic path would be ideal. To that end, the legislature worked on a few more radical reforms such as empowering the SC, checks on the Speaker, and so forth. the next few chambers will be expected to continue the changes in this direction.
    • New Policies
The new SC utilizing the mechanics started his term by abolishing the ministries and redefining the institutions. He has furthermore laid out clear targets for the ministries which he expects would help in the cabinet being more target oriented and effective. However, he is not the only one adopting a new policy. The Chamber is also focusing on more legislations to democratise the region. Meanwhile, the parties are also defining themselves through changes within and outside. As a whole, the deletion served as a quick wake up call, as the institutions are being more proactive and innovative with their application, as the immediate task of rebuilding lies ahead.

Oh and the Writer's library still exists :P

    Major Occurences
    • Contest between AFP and TIF continues as the activity Stagnates
The expanded 13 seat Chamber broadly followed the same suit as the last, with a close race between TIF and ARP, with the former an inch ahead, while ARP stays under the radar, and 2 independent candidates win the race. The term began with a heated debate surrounding the very need for parties in the region, with a section arguing against it, while the moderates argued for a milder variant. Ultimately, major legislations seeking to change the party system were shot down by the chamber, and even by the courts at a point. This essenitally led to a deadlock for a while with radical bills flooding the chamber. This took the form of a bill seeking to replace parties with nobility, while another sought to give parties greater strength. This was complemented with a number of detailed bills that sought to change the procedure of the judiciary and the legislature. Ultimately, a general consensus was formed which called for a new and reformed constitution, which in turn has led to the Chamber's activity stagnating.
    • Prozera's Term
Prozera won with a small margin against Gil Lodihr in the elections and started his term with a number of reforms to the ministries, by reducing the overall size and thereby increasing the efficiency. He managed to accomplish the goals he set out as the ministries set off to work rather quickly. The Ministry of FA managed to negotiate a treaty building closer ties with Realm of the Whispering Winds, while the Defence, which was initially a department under FA, later expanded into a ministry of its own, managed to successfully pull off a handful of operations. The activity of Ministry of Justice was questionable, while Ministry of Culture focused on roleplay. Overall, the combination seemed to be working well, while the SC himself worked efficiently to update the dispatches and release regular executive reports. As a whole, the term was largely efficient, and non controversial. On the other hand, Prozera's personal reputation and his stance vis a vis AFP cost him the next elections, as prospects of cooperation between TIF and AFP seem slim.
    • Kingdom of Navarre placed as a Protectorate
Another major success for the Imperial Legion and the skillful diplomacy of Aukumnia as the Kingdom of Navarre was placed as a protectorate of Aukumnia. The KoN, founded by the Crimson Aphrodite was destroyed by a rogue PM which ended up leaving the region vulnerable to attacks. This resulted in a quick treaty being formulated, following which the Imperial Legion dispatched it's members to strengthen the position of the WA Delegate. Simultaneously, the military gained a greater influence in the region as Aukumnia aided them in rebuilding their server and the region. The potential for the region itself is immense as it's part of a group of small regions, which could potentially give Aukumnia influence over them all. For now, the region would be content with aiding them in rebuilding and growing once again.
    • Aukucraft sets off, while Community activity struggles
While Prozera's term started with a hint of events being introduced to the region, while the executive failed to deliver on that front, a number of community initiatives took off. The most notable of the same was minecraft, dubbed as aukucraft, which garnered a lot of attention with a considerable number of participants. While interest in minecraft is at a high, overall community engagement is at a low, with not overtly heated debates, or even casual conversations. While it ccould just be because of the season, it is a concerning factor, as the region needs to rebuild itself and potentially expand and boost it's recruitment programme.
    • Shmeckle Surprises as he denies Prozera a second term
The recent SC elections, against the backdrop of the recent constitutional convention and debates surrounding various institutions of the region, was built up to be a contest between Prozera, Trev, Shmeckle and Hugh. Prozera, while having a non controversial and efficient first term, felt that he had accomplished all that he set out to achieve, and so, hadn't campaigned at all. Meanwhile, Trev being the AFP backed candidate campaigned fiercely along with Shmeckle, who ran representing the SRRP. Hugh despite being the underdog, had considerable successes in the chamber, and sought to consolidate on that with the SC elections. The run up ended up being extremely close with Trev backing out at the last moment, bringing the contest to a race between Shmeckle and Prozera, as the former ended up winning by just a vote. Shmeckle took over with a handful of controversial moves, ranging from empowering the military by adding the Ministry of Recruitment under it's jurisdiction, to creating a mini roman senate of his own, which serves as his advisory council. How impactful will these changes be is to be seen.

  • Thanks for the update, @Ar! Some interesting articles on political parties in Aukumnia.

In Wintreath, political parties never took on because they've always been seen as encouraging division and conflict in what's supposed to be a cooperative region, but Wintreath has also never been a very political region. I'm personally not so sure they can be removed in a region like Aukumnia that has a lot more political activity without harming that activity. I remember when I first joined Aukumnia's Discord the very division and conflict that we steer away from in Wintreath was promoted as a benefit in Aukumnia, so... :P

:D yeah. That's true. We don't wanna get rid of factionalism cause political competition and drama surrounding it is always fun to follow. But well, the thing is, currently parties are either straight up stagnant, or just counterproductive to score some political points over others. It's just kinda frustrating >_>

And this is all the more annoying when the region's overall activity is concerning and there's a desperate need for peeps to step up and encourage activity in some form or the other ( ._.)

Also, oo. So did you guys have political parties at one point in time?

I've only been around since 2015 so I can't fully speak on this, but I don't think so. Being largely nonpolitical seems to be very much part of Wintreath's founding culture, for the reasons Moot suggested.

Yeah fair. Politics without factionalism and stuff would be mature, stable and fun, in a non controversial way, so yeah. But it's hard to pull off successfully. So yeah, kudos to you guys :P

In our case, most of the peeps are just paranoid that in the absence of parties, the overall activity is just gonna stagnate and die off, so they aren't willing to let it go >_>
