1. This act is to be cited as the Wintreath Symbols Act.

Symbols
2. The colors of Wintreath are as follows: Veturnótt Blue [#022549], White, Summersend Gold [#FAC914], and Black.
3. The regional animal is the Arctic Fox.
4. The regional bot is Zaphyr.

5. The Flag of the Government of Wintreath is as follows: A field parted per fess Azure and Argent with an Or Nordic Cross and a Sable Dormant Tree placed center of the bottom section of the Nordic Cross. The aspect ratio is 2:3.
6. It is recommended that the Flag of Wintreath (or a flag using the Flag of Wintreath as its Canton) be flown above territories of Wintreath.
7. No person or non-territory may fly the Wintreath flag, or have it within a Canton without permission from the Monarch or his/her designee.
8. Any rendering of the flag that complies with the description of Section 5 of this act is to be considered a Wintreath Flag.

This act mainly sets forth some Symbols and also officials defines a flag and a code, I do plan for this act to cover other things as well (other symbols and seals of the region), but we don't have many of those right now.

I’m reintroducing this act to the Underhusen for consideration, in light of Gerrick’s announcement of the official regional animal as decided by the people of Wintreath. Additionally, I made quite a few of my edits to this legislation.

As a compromise. Some people were upset that the regional colors were so limiting on the flag, so I kept “regional colors” and “flag colors” separate. The idea is the fact that the specific colors are codified will compel people to use them.

Hmm, I would prefer using the Snow Fox name officially (one of the other common names for the Arctic fox), particularly given the commonness of non-Earth Wintreath settings (and since Zaphyr's pet is a snow leopard fox).

I feel like the criticism of codifying exact colors into law applies pretty much as much as it does to flag colors as it does the regional colors. Both would just be stating the official color, but also ignores that these things may shift with time. I do like setting official specific colors, it reminds of real-life corporate and state branding, though I feel like the best thing to do would be to leave it up to, say, Culture to establish guidelines in that regard. That said I don't particularly mind for it to be in the law (though hex codes are a bit strange compared to, say, numerical RGB or Pantone for official usage, but this is an internet community after all so hex codes are the most common thing here).

I can make it say "Arctic Fox (also known as the Snow Fox)" or vice versa.
Culture COULD establish them, but again, what obligation would people have to follow that? It's precisely the pushback to this that makes me think that people won't follow it if it isn't codified in law.
Also, I prefer Hexadecimal because a) RGB is longer to write out, and b) Pantone is less specific. However, if you insist, the closest Pantone colors would be 2768 C or 295 C  and 7406 C

Based on the prior discussion I'm making the following change, with removed portions in strikeout and new portions underlined.

Section 6 is changed to read:

6. It is recommended that the Flag of Wintreath (or a flag using the Flag of Wintreath as its Canton) must be flown above territories of Wintreath. This does not apply ex post facto.

Is there any additional discussion on this? Anybody that's on the fence or in the nay camp due to something in the bill?
