I've been facing the same problem as Doc with writing some sort of speech of appreciation. I don't want to say nothing, because I appreciate what this means a lot, I'm just too clinical to make warm acceptance speeches.
I have been amazed at this community's outpouring of support not just for me, but all its members. Isolated as we are from each other by physical space, I view the community as an extension of my family. Sure, we have disagreements, we even scream at each other at the tops of our lungs, sometimes, but no outside force should ever dare to fuck with anyone here, and that is why, even though I've been terribly inactive for a while, and even though life often takes me away from here, I will always come back.
Truthfully, I am not certain why I was supported as I was, because I honestly feel I have let the community down multiple times over the last few years with my tendency to disappear, and have not done anything close to my previous feat of reviving RP and the formation of the guilds. It puzzles me why I am still so highly respected. That does not for a moment mean I do not appreciate the community's intent with honouring me as it has. I am overwhelmed by the trust you all place in me, and I feel obligated to do better this year because of this award, so as not to betray your trust.
I would be remiss in neglecting to mention my House and all its members. I would not trade you idiots in for anything, even were I to be offered a chance to join the Royal family (goddammit, these badges
really make it tempting).
I want to sincerely thank our monarch and previous recipient of this very award for crafting and maintaining this community that I like to fuck around in so much. Even though we often disagree, there is no Wintreath without you,
@Wintermoot.
I also want to thank a few departed members for shaping Wintreath into what it is, too. Even though you may not physically be around anymore, I want you to know I often think of you:
@Weissreich,
@PB,
@HannahB,
@Reon,
@Colberius X (but I still feel slightly salty towards you for thwarting my nefarious plans in Werewolf so often, you fuck),
@Aaron Specter.
It would be terrible to forget the ones who are still around, whom I happen to have fond memories of and still highly regard:
@Sapphiron,
@Chanku,
@Pengu,
@Crushita.
To everyone who had won the award last year for any of the months, I agree with Doc's assessment, a case could have been made for all of you to win. It was an especially close thing between
@taulover and
@Gerrick, and
@Katie and
@Wintermoot. Tau came ever so close to winning it twice in a row, and I still regard it as tragic that Gerrick did not receive this great honour, which I believe he is unquestionably due.
Lastly, to my co-winner, I look forward to seeing what great contributions you will make in the community for many years to come, and I also look forward to curbstomping you in many Werewolf games yet.
I sincerely appreciate this community and all the individuals who make it up. Here's to another 4 years! May we reach ever greater heights, together.
Also, thank fuck that's over.
