Wintreath Thane Elections
Nominate and Stand for Election!

In this topic you may stand or nominate someone else to stand for election for one of these thane positions in the Ministries of Culture, Foreign Affairs, and Regional Affairs! Only Citizens can be nominated for or stand for elections. Once you have stood for election, you must create a campaign topic before Saturday, December 1st that at a minimum provides the following information:

1) Why are you running for this position?
2) What do you aim to accomplish as thane? As part of this, you must include at least one thing that you promise to do beyond the minimum listed duties of the position during your term. It should be measurable, so that it's black and white whether you fulfilled this mandate at the end of the term if you are elected.
2a) If you are an incumbent running for re-election, did you fulfill your mandate from the March election? If not, why didn't you?
3) What qualifications or experience do you have in the area that you are running in?
4) How do you plan to have the time to fulfill the duties of the position until the next election in March?
5) Are you currently a part of any other NationStates regional or organizational government? If so, please include those regions and positions.

Once your campaign is posted, the Jarl over the position will vet and either approve or reject your candidacy based on your activity and contributions/history in the area that you are running in, and I reserve the right to reject your candidacy based on your fit within the current Cabinet or regional security concerns. Nominations will be open until Saturday, June 1st, and the list of positions open are below:

Ministry of Culture, led by Gerrick

Thane of Roleplay (voted on by citizens in the RP Guild):

• Represent the roleplay community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the forums in the Roleplayers' Gathering;
• Encourage roleplay and facilitate its growth in the region;
• Serve as the Patriarch of the RP Guild;
• Work with the Council to manage the RP Guild and its roleplays by helping members start up and host roleplays, helping find a new host for a roleplay if the host goes inactive, and helping decide whether to reboot or archive inactive roleplays;
• Welcome new citizens who may interested in roleplay, introduce them to the RP Guild and the Roleplayers' Gathering, accept new members into the RP Guild, and help out beginners with roleplaying;
• Other duties determined by the RP Guild.

Thane of Werewolf (voted on by citizens who have participated in a regional game of Werewolf):

• Represent the Werewolf community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Werewolf/Mafia" board;
• Lead the Werewolf Taskforce (a small group to help with its duties) and appoint its members;
• Start and host games or help others to start and host games of Werewolf;
• Help out beginners and answer any questions they may have;
• Keep the stickied threads updated;
• Other duties determined by the Werewolf Taskforce;
• Must ensure at least one game of Werewolf is started during its term.

LGBT Thane (voted on by LGBT citizens and citizens who have posted in "The Pride" board during the previous term):

• Represent the LGBT community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate "The Pride" board;
• Facilitate the growth of the LGBT community in the region;
• Welcome new citizens who may be LGBT and introduce them to the Pride and its community;
• Foster inclusivity and support for the LGBT community and its allies;
• Must start/post at least one new LGBT-related discussion or news article per month during its term.

Thane of Gaming (voted on by citizens who have participated in a regional non-forum game):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions;
• Manage and moderate the "Gaming Lounge" forum;
• Facilitate the growth of the gaming community in the region;
• Promote playing non-forum multiplayer games together as a region (such as Minecraft, Civilization, Town of Salem, Paradox games, and MMOs);
• Welcome new citizens who may be interested in gaming and help them to join regional games;
• Must set up at least one regional game night per month during its term.

Thane of Integration (voted on by all Citizens):

• Represent the gaming community in the Riksrad and regularly take part in Cabinet meetings and discussions
• Ensure that Citizen applicants are properly welcomed to the region and given information of use to them
• Assist in determining the previous experience, skills, talents, and interests of new applicants and direct them to areas of Wintreath that may interest them
• Encourage Citizens to remain connected and engaged with the community
• Encourage Citizens who have gone inactive to come back and give our community another chance
• Encourage participation in multiple areas of Wintreath (ie. forums, Discord, the region page)

Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Chanku

Thane of Foreign Releases and Information (voted on by members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Orendi contributors from last term)

• The Department of Foreign Releases and Information is tasked with compiling, organizing, and releasing Wintreath's Monthly Foreign Dispatch, aiding in the improvement of activity within our Diplomatic Missions, and assist in the advertisement of regional events and activies abroad. Additionally, it is also tasked with reviewing Foreign Publications pursuant to Section 3 of Decree 006 for approval.

Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions (voted on by current Diplomatic Officers, Thane of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and past Diplomatic Officers in good standing)

• The Department of Diplomatic Officers and Missions is tasked with managing and maintaing our Diplomatic Officer and Mission Programme to other regions and organizations within NationStates.
• The Diplomatic Officer Programme, as ran under this ministry, is to rank each Diplomatic Officer with a general ranking, which the gaining of higher ranks includes privileges and other incentives for the performance of Ambassadorial duties. The exact specifics of this organization are left to the Thane of Diplomatic Officers and Missions.

Thane of Regional Outreach and Events (voted on by past or present Thanes of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, those who have contributed to at least one of the past two Orendi releases, and must have held at least one Diplomatic Officer position within the past six (6) months)

• The Department of Regional Outreach and Events is tasked with: scouting out and finding new and promising regions to reach out to and form relations with, aiding the planning and implementation of cross-regional events, and to extend help to regions that might desire aid from Wintreath in certain manners.

Ministry of Regional Affairs, led by Doc

Thane of World Assembly Affairs (voted on by Citizens with a NationStates nation in Wintreath, candidates must have a NationStates nation in Wintreath)

• Determine votes on World Assembly proposals or determine systems to determine their vote
• Ensure that their NationStates nation has the highest number of endorsements possible, at least the highest number in the region.
• Represent Wintreath in communications regarding the World Assembly.

Voting will begin on Saturday, December 1st.

I shall not be seeking re-election this term.

I'd like to once again nominate our incumbent as WAD, BSR.
Been doing a bang-up job so far.

I am saddened that North will not seek re-election for the RP Thane. I would like to nominate @Saerien in his place, though. New member, sure, but by God, he's active in RP.

I will stand for the Werewolf Thane, and also wish to enquire whether there may be two Werewolf Thanes. If there may, then I wish to run alongside @Pengu.

I will be seeking reelection as Thane of Foreign Releases and Information.

I have updated the OP with candidate statuses. Don't forget to post a campaign before elections start!

It's ultimately up to @Gerrick, but I will note that if all positions are filled there will be 13 people in the Cabinet as it is...it's getting pretty massive for a region that hasn't been all that active lately.

Sure, I'll run.  And I'd love to run alongside Laurentus if @Gerrick allows it.

May I ask what having two werewolf thanes could do that one couldn't?

While I'm not entirely sure of Laurentus' thoughts on it exactly, my assumption would be that because we're both long-term "veterans" of the Werewolf hosting spree, we could really bounce some ideas off of each other.  Plus, with our combined expertise in the various areas of both culture and politics, we could work together to bring Werewolf back to the height it was when our player count was almost hitting 30.

Basically, 1 Thane with expertise in the field could find ways to make it more entertaining.  2 Thanes with expertise could figure out ways to make the game a force to be reckoned with in all of NS.

That's just my assumption though and why I'd be down for it, Laurentus could give better reasoning for his thoughts behind it.

Hmm, I suppose if the two of you plan something amazing that generates a lot of activity -- I'm talking about something that'll attract several players from other regions and Wintreans who aren't normally on the forums -- then I could get behind it. As Wintermoot said, the Cabinet is getting pretty bloated with the amount of inactivity it's bringing, so it'd need to be a real event.

Gerrick does have a point, and we don't have a particularly good track record with cohosted games in the past after all...
