Yesterday, Canada became the second in the world after Uruguay to legalize marijuana, allowing adults to possess, carry, and share up to 30 grams of dried cannabis and to grow up to four marijuana plants per household in most provinces.

What are your thoughts on this? And if you happen to be Canadian, have you partaken in this newly legal activity...or do you plan to?

I mean sure, why not?  Really the dumbest thing one can do (as the US constantly proves) is attempting to ban substances.  Because by banning it, it makes it that much more tantalizing...and thus more people will want to indulge in it since it's considered taboo.  Whereas with it legal, sure it's still talked about...but people (at least here in WA) are much less obnoxious about it than they were when it was still considered illegal.

It becomes less of a big deal, so you actually see it less actively used.

I think that there are a few issues with the law and I agree with the ban of smoking in public spaces imposed by Markham, a city near Toronto, Ontario. I'm all for decriminalization but due to the nature of Marijuana and the effects it can have on people near by, thanks to contact highs, can be really bad.

(Needed context, I work as event staff for a bouncy castle company).

One of the major concerns I have is how smoking at public and private events will be handled as I don't really intend to partake but I may be forced to work in an environment where smoking weed may be allowed. It's not safe for my judgment to be impaired supervising rides and handling something like safety, nor would it be safe for kids.

I think the law was rushed and that more thought should have been put in place for handling cases like these. It's great that people have access to a safe, regulated source but the date should have been set further down the line so that provinces could regulate distribution better, set up infrastructure and think about public safety.

Everyone should be able to do what they like with their bodies but I think I draw the line at smoking in public as that can have seriously harmful effects and removes the ability of choice from anyone passing by.

So we won't be seeing stoned trader anytime soon?

In general, I support people having more individual rights so long as it doesn't infringe on the individual rights of others, so I support making it legal even though I've never smoked it and have no interest in smoking it. Being able to smoke it in public can infringe on others rights though, so I see your point.

I'm generally of the same mindset. I would generally define myself as a social libertarian, although a little more conservative at where I would draw the line on what libertarians consider "infringing on the rights of other".

Oh and, I don't think I would ever really partake in that stuff. It just seems like a bad idea for me personally, I would end up abusing it or in an unhealthy relationship with it somehow.

Sure, I bought some SQDC devil lettuce.

The Earth didn't stop revolving, but some people went to queue hours on a weekday instead of buying it online. I live right next to the pot store so I saw the queues every time I went to or came back from school or work. Either all the bums went to buy weed or people just didn't show up to work. Kind of silly if you ask me.

Supposedly it's all sold out now, though. Government is going stir crazy because they're paying a bunch of people to open the stores and hold their dicks/tits. But I still see some products available online. Probably different stocks and warehouses.

Leave it to the Quebec Liberals to fuck it up, and this new government is not gonna help things.
