Title
1. This bill shall be cited as the Reon Commendation Act.

Recognition
2. Wintreath notes the numerous achievements of Reon, including:
(a) Contributing to both the Underhusen and Overhusen repeatedly, authoring laws such as the Monarch-Underhusen Rights Removal Amendment Act,
(b) Serving as World Assembly Delegate, as well as Jarl of WA Affairs, for almost three years,
(c) Fostering the region's culture as Thane of Culture.
(d) Outstanding service to the region both as a member of government, a legislator and as a citizen.
(e) Work as one of the first members of the Wintreath Minecraft Server building the community there.
(f) Outstanding contribution to the community as a citizen.

3. The Storting hereby awards Reon the Commendation of Wintreath.

I am hoping to give Reon a Commendation by the end of the term of this Storting. If anyone has any suggestions for reasons why Reon should recieve a Commendation, please feel free the share :]

Just a note, there will need to be more examples to get this to pass, so try and find them.

9:14 PM] taulover: I don't see how the new Reon Commendation Act draft fixes the criticisms made by the OH. Wintermoot wrote this of my bill:

"Even if it turns out that the most commendable thing about Reon is the postive impact he had on the community just from being part of it, I feel like that would make for a more worthy commendation of Reon than what we're considering today. I don't necessary have a problem with a commendation listing the positions that they held as well, I just don't feel like they should be the meat of the commendation."

While @ThatDudeWhoDoesTheThing addresses the first part, I still feel like the majority of the law, and its main core, still rests around listing Reon's positions, and that seems to be the main concern Moot had over the law that I had written and rushed through the UH last year.

[9:27 PM] taulover: I'm not too sure. I was actually a bit surprised when Moot made that criticism, even though I can see why he did, since quite a few similar laws (such as the Charax Romanov Act and Isenjar Act) literally just list positions.
[9:28 PM] taulover: The Colberius X Commendation Act focused more on the effects of his positions and actions, even though it was based around it, and I can see that you've tried to do that too, maybe focus on that a bit more too?

My proposal to give Reon and Wintreath Commendation failed in the Overhusen because of Wintermoot's concerns that it was just a list of positions rather than discussing the positive effects Reon had on the region as a whole. I'll agree with @Syraj that more concrete examples would be helpful, but possibly more important is the effects of those examples on the community, and at the same time, we shouldn't be removing other parts simply for being "vague." Intangible positive contribution to the community by simply participating in it is still an important part that shouldn't be ignored.

Also, just some formatting concerns:
Each point until (f) should be ending in a comma, to achieve consistency and fit the formatting of earlier similar laws.
Probably should be a comma after "Minecraft Server." I might also rephrase as "helping to build and foster" or something like that since Reon obviously didn't singlehandedly create the early Minecraft server community.

I'm also having trouble quantifying exact things Reon did. He left a long time ago and I did not know him that well when he was here. Really, I'm looking for more concrete accomplishments of Reons.

The Amalya Paragon Act is an older law with a different format, but I think there's something we can take from it. There's a section of it towards the end which reads:

However, her greatest impact on our community is through her friendliness, perseverance, loyalty, compassion, and openness that has made her such a friend and role model to so many here and made her an essential pillar of our community.

Something like this would definitely help to work in what Wintermoot talked about:

He's been gone two years now, and honestly it's been so long that I would need to research some of those things myself, but even if in the end we remember him because he was a particularly outgoing and zany character who was a good friend to people in the community and helped make it a more fun and cheerful place to be, I think that's a worthy commendation too. We're a community-based region, after all, and it's ok to hold someone like him up as someone who embodied what Wintreath was/is as a community.

Perhaps include it in a new third section, akin to similar sections in the Weissreich Paragon Act or Pengu Commendation Act?

Hmmmm... Now that, taulover, is a fantastic Idea.

Reon was also a mentor to people for a long time (including for me) and he was always really patient and willing to answer whatever questions one might have about Wintreath, as well as just generally kind to everyone! 

Now that this passed the OH, I assume that taulover will have to update the public list?
