Greetings, Storting and Wintreath community.

As you may know, @AJ’BLarg left today for basic training for the United States Navy. Because he will be gone for eight weeks, it's possible that his Citizenship will lapse as he will not be able to post on the forums or tend to his nation (although he put it in vacation mode). Given that he has been a part of the community for several years now, I was wondering what the Storting's (and community's) thoughts were about possibly granting him a temporary exemption from Citizenship requirements, perhaps through June 1st.

I might suggest we expand that to anybody who gives a specific time range for a leave of absence - if that's too broad, maybe we could tack on words like 'for meritorious reasons', which is sufficiently vague that there's some flexibility in it.

I'm for this, and I feel this is a good approach to the situation.

Why not just do it on a case-by-case basis?

I would of course be for this.

My suggestions for the bill proposed by Dawsinian, currently in the Underhusen:
1. I suggest combining 2.2.1 into 2.2. as a single paragraph, in keeping with the existing style established in the current sections 2.3 and 2.4.
2. Perhaps also give the power to the Monarch? I could see debates on who to give the power to...

I dunno, I see this as more of the community saying "hey, this person is pretty great so even while they're away we're going to recognize them as a citizen". Giving that power to the Monarch means Wintermoot could (not that he necessarily would) just exempt anyone he wanted from the requirements of citizenship.

Those are used differently though, more like bullet points, while the other sections (and your proposal) are more like added elaboration that's important to the section.

Hmm, good point on the symbolism. I guess I like the practicalities of accepting the practical nature of benevolent absolute rule; after all, the Monarch already can revoke citizenship and Wintermoot (in both his capabilities as Monarch and Winter Nomad/Admin) has the legal power to ban whomever he wants. But since keeping citizenship in Wintreath is typically more a political (and often symbolic) thing than an administrative one, I can see why you'd might prefer the Storting to be fully in charge of this.

I'm down with this. 

I strongly support this.

I haven't seen any action or discussion from the UH about this in a few days, even though everyone seems to think it's a good idea in some fashion. Seems to me you have to either find a compromise between the proposals that have been made, or just see which one has the votes to pass.

Election season for the UH opens in two weeks, and I imagine everyone would like to remember this session for more than a joke declaration of war proposal and bickering/inaction on an idea everyone seems to like.
