Government Update, Cabinet Changes under New PM
Following the December 2022 General Election, Prime Minister Owen Stewart quickly got underway with a series of changes to his Cabinet. His first move was to dissolve two ministries, Gameside Affairs and Business & Housing, and place their work back under the remit of the Home Office and Treasury respectively. As well as this, the Prime Minister announced the creation of the Office for World Assembly Affairs, NSUKs first attempt at getting more involved in the World Assembly for a number of years. Following this, the PM announced his Cabinet as follows:

Since then, he has made one change, replacing Vihbor Mikaelson with Christoph Sebastian, his opponent in the last General Election.
Since the beginning of term, all of the ministries have been hard at work carrying out the plans that got the Prime Minister elected, but the busiest of all has been the Home Office. Having taken on the gameside remit again, the Home Office quickly got to work with a number of initiatives to get the Government more involved in the gameside community, including Cabinet QnAs and a targeted TG campaign to encourage more people to become citizens, following the rapid increase in nation count over the last few months. As well as this, the Home Office have led the way on a new manual recruitment programme to help continue this growth in nation count.
The Treasury has also been working hard on a number of projects in the early part of term. The most important of these being a new Budget, which has recently been presented to the House of Commons for their approval. As well as this, the Treasury has been looking at ways to encourage more RP businesses in the region to help develop the economy and boost employment, especially for newer citizens. The other major piece of work being conducted in the early part of the term has revolved around the recently passed Wills and Testament Act, to help support citizens that are looking to set up their own wills.
The Culture Office has also been busy under the leadership of new Secretary of State Daniel Hawthorn with the hosting of a number of Christmas related activities and events. These included a Secret Santa for citizens, hosting a New Years Eve party in a joint venture with Everyday Productions, and a public outreach to reinvigorate our VC nights.
The realm of Foreign Affairs in NSUK has changed somewhat with the introduction of the World Assembly Affairs Office as HM Government tries to build our foreign influence with greater involvement in the World Assembly. This has meant that a large amount of the term so far for the World Assembly Office has been planning and setting up processes to allow the Ministry to function. However, they have recently posted the beginning of an index of resolutions, which will set out previous WA resolutions and their results as a form of record keeping for NSUKs WA involvement. Alongside this, the Foreign Office has been working throughout the term on developing our relationships with regions abroad, and having discussions with a number of regions around NS on a variety of matters.

The Holiday was a busy season in terms of Cultural Affairs in NSUK with a number of different things happening. The first of these was NSUKs participation in the NS Christmas Charity Fundraiser. It was amazing to see NSUK get involved in this for a second year running and raise a huge amount of money for a very deserving charity. As well as this, the Culture Office hosted a Secret Santa, and although its success was limited, it showed that people want to still get involved in cultural events outside of discord, which is promising for us. As well as this, a number of events were hosted at Clarence House, including a Christmas Carol service with the Prince of Wales, and a New Years Eve party hosted by HM Government and Everyday Productions. As we move into 2023, these cultural events haven’t stopped with HM Queen Constance II’s return to Buckingham Palace and the announcement of a new batch of honours to reflect the success of citizens in NSUK over the last year. These events have been so important to keep people engaged around the holiday period, especially with the NS outage, so it is great to have been able to see so many events around the region.
An observation into the current economic situation of NSUK

NSUK has a long and proud tradition of fostering private businesses with focuses on everything from RP events to legal affairs and media enterprises. For the vast majority of the region's history, businesses have been one shot platforms, individual companies that focused on a specific model and lived and sometimes died by that model. But in the last year, and especially in the last months, the region has seen a change. Companies are no longer strictly one dimensional, they are adapting and transforming into corporations, conglomerates and giants of industry. It could be argued that this all began with the BBC itself, the region's official news agency, which has long worked to provide not just news updates but entertainment programs as well.
However, the first truly independent corporation did not come about until August of 2021, in the name of AJ Assets Enterprise. Created by two giants of the region, Akillian Talleyrand and John Alexander, AJ Assets has continued to run a successful and well respected newspaper in the National Chronicle, while also running lottery and gambling establishments with everything from fantasy bingo to betting odds on World Cup and Premier League matches.
Since the creation of AJ Assets, a number of other private corporations have arisen in the region, becoming cornerstones of regional businesses in a number of fields. The Britannia Group has thrilled citizens with their regular horse races and the opportunities for citizens to own their own race horses, while the Mikaelson Financial Group has offered gambling services, a loans operation for those looking to start new businesses and even a legal department to assist citizens in preparing wills should they have to leave the region unexpectedly. Finally, Beacon Subsidiaries has become a regular name in the twitter news service, while also running The Church of the Holy Potato within the region.
It would seem that the days of single companies competing for top spot in an industry may have faded out for now, as large corporations fight each other to be better, to be best, and to offer the best to the citizens of NSUK. The region, as a whole, has to be very excited to see where companies and corporations alike go from here.
Roleplay legislation sees rise in interest in Parliament

House of Commons debating the amendment to the Committee Act

As the 83rd Session of Parliament approaches its end, members have in recent weeks devoted significant portions of their tenure to discussions around roleplay legislation. Here is a summary of some of these bills and the debates:
British Museum Act
The Museum established through this act which was authored by the Prime Minister is designed to be a more accessible and simplified showcase of the region’s history, as opposed to the dense and systematic United Kingdom Archives.
The bill passed an initial reading in the House of Commons relatively quickly and only a miniscule amendment was recommended by the Lords which the Commons. However, concern was raised about the maintenance of the Museum during periods of inactivity. The Prime Minister argued that 'the bill offers the chance for the House to question the Chairperson during a reconfirmation hearing, and potentially a change in leadership if the leadership of the Museum is unsatisfactory' which would pressure the Chairperson to be as active as possible. It is hoped that the bill will give the process of recording NSUK history a more canonical feel, unlike the administrator-operated archives. The Museum is to host monthly exhibits focusing on a specific theme or topic which will be overseen by a Chairperson, whom the Commons have recently finished confirming the nominee, who was recommended by the Prime Minister to the Monarch for a 90 day term.
Jay Dee Bonaparte, a Former Prime Minister whose long service and interregional recognition are matched by a handful of others, was confirmed by the House of Commons. Mr. Bonaparte expressed an interest in styling the Museum as a collection of smaller museums which will cover areas such as Art, Law and Culture and has said he will ‘advocate for the Museum to be located in the West End district next to the University’.
Unionization and Strike Protection Act
The NSUK economy was reestablished in early 2021 and various business regulations condensed into the Treasury Reform Act that received royal assent in the Summer of that year. This bill Unlike other economic laws, which generally pertain to the functions of the Treasury and its budgets, this bill which was proposed by Sinn Féin MP John Laurens-Wessex, who wishes all public and private sector employees entitled to formation of unions and collective bargaining, though public sector employees would not be entitled to strike. However, other MPs have cast doubt on the necessity of this bill given the concurrent lacklustre levels of economic activity in the region seeing as it is ‘a relatively new development in the history in the region…’ as Commons Speaker and fellow SF MP Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim suggested, who also mentioned the ‘pushback’ that the introduction of the economy had received meant that further. Mr Laurens-Wessex acknowledged his concerns, counterarguing that ‘there may be pushback politically against this bill, and understandably so with the controversial nature of Unions.’ Co-op MP Christoph Sebastian has also questioned the feasibility of Mr Laurens-Wessex’s proposal. Regardless of the concerns about the bill, the Unionization and Strike Protection Act was passed in the House of Commons on the 8th of December, with 4 Members of Parliament voting in support of the bill, and one 1 MP abstaining, however the bill was voted down unanimously in the House of Lords on the 19th of December.
Following the December General Election, it was a busy start to the 84th session of Parliament, which began with the election of a new Speaker of the House of Commons. This saw 2 candidates put themselves forward, Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim, the incumbent Speaker, and Christoph Sebastian, the Co-op Party leader. Following a period of campaigning, Christoph Sebastian was duly elected Speaker by a 3-2 vote. His first act of business was to welcome maiden speeches from the new MPs this term, bringing back an old initiative by former Prime Minister Sir David Allum.
In terms of legislative work this term, the biggest piece of business has been an amendment to the Committees Act. It began with the House of Commons passing an amendment to remove an unnecessary category of committee, but during the debate in the House of Lords, the upper chamber believed that the Act itself was no longer necessary and the amendment back to the Commons having been revised to now be a repeal of the entire Act, which is currently being discussed by the House of Commons.
Other business by Parliament this term has included the confirmation of Chief Judge John Spencer-Talleyrand, HM Government’s new Budget, and 2 new pieces of legislation, the Auction and Tenders Act and an amendment to the Judiciary Act.

The Great British Business Expo
Big Business is big business in NSUK, and the government is working to show that off during the first ever British Business Expo, taking place now on the NSUK forums! Businesses of all shapes and sizes have been welcomed into the Event Center to show off their wares and maybe even do a little recruitment for potential employees. Government led discussions are also running with several different panels where business leaders from across the region are discussing the economy, their companies and the future of the free market economy in the region.
Citizens have enjoyed the chance to see what area business leaders have had to say, and the Stewart Premiership must surely be chalking up the Expo as another win as the term winds down.


Election Time Again and Again and Again...
Over the course of January and into the first week of February, the region has spent a significant amount of time in election mode. To start our election scramble, Vibhor Mikaelson, President of the Sinn Fein party, resigned his post as a Member of Parliament, citing real-life reasons. This kicked off a controversial election pitting Daniel Hawthorn of Sinn Fein, Mark Phoe of the Cooperative Party, Lucas Stewart of the STAG Party, and Pineneedle project of Restoring British Freedom against each other. The election went to a runoff pitting Daniel Hawthorn and Mark Phoe against each other, resulting in a victory for Daniel Hawthorn and Sinn Fein.
However, a few weeks later, it was discovered that Daniel Hawthorn had deleted his forum account and after several days of people reaching out to him via telegram and discord, with no response, the Queen declared yet another by-election. This by-election pitted Mr. Menzies of Sinn Fein, Mr. Stewart of STAG, and Mr. Mikaelson of the Co-op Party against each other. The election went to yet another runoff between Menzies and Stewart, which resulted in Mr. Stewart winning the seat by a tally of eighteen votes to twelve.
With a General Election quickly approaching, pundits expect all three major parties to run candidates for both Prime Minister and Member of Parliament, although several of the parties are currently suffering from low membership numbers or low active membership numbers. It'll be interesting to see just who decides to run this time around and for what positions.


NSUK's Newest Party Wins Its First Seat in the House of Commons
After having lost a previous By-election, Lucas Stewart's STAG party, which was founded less than a month ago, has now secured a seat in the House of Commons yesterday evening, with Lucas Stewart beating out Sinn Fein candidate Elisha Menzies by 20 percent of the vote in the By-election to replace Daniel Hawthorn, who had disappeared mysteriously on the 27th of January. This leaves the composition of the House of Commons as such for the end of the term:
1 MP from Sinn Fein, 1 MP from the Co-op Party, 1 MP from the STAG Party, and 2 Independent MP's.
With the General Election coming up in less than 2 weeks, it seems that Mr. Stewart will not enough time to implement his plans for office before this term has concluded.


From the Halls of Parliament…
Since the last edition of the Royal Messenger, Parliament has seen a raft of legislation come before it for consideration, many with varying levels of success. The first major debate of the month was over the new Budget that was put before the House by Chancellor Christoph Sebastian, the first Budget he had created. While the Budget was largely similar to the one last passed by the Allum Administration, there were a number of key differences, namely a budget for the Home Office for their manual recruitment work, and changes to the economic programmes on offer to the region to reflect Prime Minister Stewarts economic aims. There were a number of questions from MPs around the large deficit that was being forecast by this Budget, but was explained by the Prime Minister to reflect a worst case scenario of the Budget, and like its predecessor, is unlikely to be anywhere near the actual spending levels over the course of this Budget. After a promise from the Prime Minister that an emergency Budget would be brought forth if the Government’s spending levels were so high, the Budget went on to pass with a 2-1 majority, and 2 MPs not voting.
The second major piece of legislation before the Commons this term was the Auction and Tenders Act, which would have set out procedures to regulate purchasing and selling methods for HM Government. This bill generated a large amount of debate around a number of provisions. However, debate quickly petered out over the bill, and a lack of enthusiasm from the Bill’s author saw the bill tabled before going to a vote.
The next major piece of legislation on the floor of the House of Commons was the Contracts, Agreements, and Terms of Service Act (CATS) Amendment. This amendment seeks to allow businesses the ability to create terms of service for their goods/services to ensure the protection of their work. Quickly, it became clear that MPs weren’t comfortable to leave the creation of a whole term of service to businesses, and an amendment was brought to establish a default terms of service for the purchase of goods and service around the region, to ensure minimum standard levels are met. The Bill went on to comfortably pass through the House of Commons, and is currently being debated by the House of Lords.
The most recent piece of business on the floor of the House of Commons this term has been an amendment to the Security and Defence Act, which was proposed by the Prime Minister to ensure that nations could not use puppets to evade gameside bans. The bills obtained bi-partisan support from around the House of Commons, and after one question around a ‘preponderance of evidence’ would mean, the Bill passed the House of Commons unanimously, 3-0, with one MP absent. The Bill is currently being debated by the House of Lords.
In terms of legislation being presented by Peers, there have been two pieces of legislation. The first was an amendment to the Judiciary Act, which would have seen a number of changes to the current system. However, after concerns over the bill were raised by a number of peers and the public gallery, the bill was tabled. The other bill before the Lords was an amendment to the Election Regulation Act, dealing with issues around tied votes. The Bill has seen a lot of debate, both within the Lords and around the region more generally, and as of writing this article, is still being debated by the Lords. However, with a General Election mandated to be within the next two weeks, it is hard to see this Bill receiving Royal Assent before Parliament is prorogued for the election.


Interview with Prime Minister Owen Stewart
What made you join NSUK?
My reasons for joining NSUK are actually quite simple. I was by no means new to NS when I decided to join NSUK. I had been in TNP for around 4 years and had served in a number of positions there. But I was looking for a change and wanted to give another region a go and see if I could hack it in another region. So I looked around for a while and considered a number of options, but joining the anglosphere really jumped out to me because of how involved it is. So I looked more closely at the 3 major anglosphere regions and decided that NSUK was the best option for me, and I am so glad I made that choice. So I joined the forum and obtained citizenship, and the rest is history.
One thing I would change about my history in NS
This is something I have thought about quite a lot over the years, but recently my answer has changed quite a bit. In the past, the thing I would change was always to do with my time as Speaker in The North Pacific and the way that ended, but since joining NSUK, my answer has changed a lot. If I could change anything about my NSUK time, I wish I had joined NSUK much sooner. The community and friendships that I have developed in NSUK have been amazing and I just wish that I had joined a lot earlier. As well as this, I have been told numerous times by people that I would have loved and thrived with the opportunity to work with older NSUKers that are no longer here, so I really wish I had joined the region earlier and had that chance.
If you could create a Cabinet of any NSUK citizen, past or present, what would your Cabinet be?
This is a hard one for me because there are so many amazing citizens, both past and present, that could and really should be part of this list. However, in terms of fairness, I am only going to consider my dream Cabinet with people that have been around while I have been a citizen. This Cabinet would be filled with some absolute powerhouses of NSUK, and all of them are going to go down as absolute legends of the region. To be able to have these people at their peak, this Cabinet would be unstoppable and would be able to achieve so much to drive the region forward. To start off with, my Deputy Prime Minister. For this, I wanted someone that I know I can rely on to be my right hand man and whip the rest of the Cabinet into shape and ensure that our plans are all achieved. For this role, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited than George Stewart. George has been one of my big mentors in the region, and I couldn’t not have him there to support me in my Cabinet.
For the Home Office, it is none other than my current Home Secretary, Lucas Stewart. Lucas has been such an amazing Home Secretary this term, helping me with both recruitment projects and also gameside integration ideas, so he would have to be my Home Secretary. The Foreign Office was probably the hardest role for me to decide because it is the ministry that I love and care about the most. However, ultimately, I had to go with someone that has put so much work into this ministry over the years, and was actually the person who gave me my first chance in the Foreign Office, and that is Akillian Talleyrand.
For the Treasury, I would have to go for David Allum. David has put so much work into the economy since he has joined the region and wants it to succeed more than anyone else in NSUK, with so many ideas and projects that have been successful for the economy, I couldn’t think of anyone better suited for Chancellor of the Exchequer than David. The Culture Office is an easy one for me. While Longdendale Bauheim needs an honourable mention here for being the King of spam in NSUK and such an influential cultural figure in NSUK, my Culture Secretary has to be the eternal Culture Secretary, the man that has led our Culture Office like a hero for so many terms since I joined NSUK, and someone that has been a very trusted advisor for my over my NSUK career, John Alexander.
My final two Cabinet roles are going to be the two most experienced NSUKers, and won’t come as a surprise to anyone. For World Assembly Affairs, I would have to go for Klaus Mikaelson. The knowledge and understanding I have seen from him as World Assembly Delegate in the last year has been nothing short of incredible. Klaus has been in NSUK pretty much since the start of the region, so he has done everything, so there is no one I would rather have in this role than Klaus. My final Cabinet role is something I don’t currently have, but I couldn’t not have this person in my Cabinet if I had the chance, so I would absolutely have an Attorney General. For the person that serves here, it will come as a surprise to absolutely no one, that I would want the Mother of Law herself, Constance St. James. Constance’s understanding of NSUK cannot be beaten by anyone, and I couldn’t have a dream Cabinet without her serving in it.
What would you say has been the highlight of your time in office this term?
This is a hard one for me to be honest, because this term has been a really good one for me, and has really allowed me to show what I can actually do, and right the wrongs of my last term in Office. However, the highlight for me has to be how NSUK has been willing to work with me and begin to look more outwards at NS and the opportunities available. This term has seen more gameside work than we have done as a Government for a long time, and with the creation of the World Assembly Affairs Office and the current Frontier/Stronghold Consultation, I believe the region are really starting to see the benefits of coming out of the isolationism that has for so long plagued the region, and try to get more involved in gameside affairs and foreign policy. So, I am happy in the hope that this work will continue in the future.
What accomplishment are you most proud of, as a government?
I am proud of everything that we, as a Government, have achieved this term. I think we have made some significant changes that, in the future, will provide great benefits for the region for months and years to come. In terms of the accomplishment that I am most proud of, it would have to be the new manual recruitment programme that Lucas and I have worked really hard on. Getting new nations into our region is so important for the sustainability and future of our region, so we need to do as much as possible to ensure that we are getting as many nations into our region and involved as possible. It has also shown to be a success so far, and I really look forward to seeing what people do with it going forward because we need a manual recruitment programme.
What is your opinion on the upcoming Frontier/Stronghold update? Is it a good thing or a bad thing for NS?
In terms of what I think about the update in terms of NSUKs view on it, I think that it is vital that we continue with how we are at the moment, and choose to be a stronghold going forward. In terms of wider NS, I do think it is going to be a good thing. It adds a new way for regions to recruit as well as another level of gameplay for regions to get involved with R/D wise, so I could be really beneficial for adding some freshness to NS and I look forward to seeing it actually be implemented.
Is the economy in NSUK heading in the right direction in your opinion? Why?
To be completely honest, the economy is the only thing in NSUK I am not particularly fond of, so I don’t think I am particularly the best person to answer this question because it is quite complicated. What I think do think about the direction that we need to take on the economy is that we need consistency in the approach being taken by successive Governments. We are not going to have a successful economy if Government’s drastically change things every term because nothing is ever going to be able to settle and bed in, so I strongly believe that if the economy is going to go in the right direction, we, as a region, need to come together and decide a unified approach to ensuring its success, and not just have successive Governments come up with their own approaches.
What’s next for you?
In terms of what is next for me, I don’t want to speculate on the next General Election and whether I stand, you are going to have to wait until the Writ drops and registration opens to find that out. But when I do eventually leave Downing Street, I plan on taking a complete break from politics in NSUK. I have been at the forefront of NSUK politics for every moment since I joined. I have been either in Government or Parliament pretty much every term, so I think I deserve a bit of a break. So when I do leave Downing Street, I want to start focusing a bit more on other areas, particularly business, the Council of Nations, and doing more culture stuff.

Out of curiosity, what role do businesses play in NSUK? Are they like our clubs, or do they provide actual services for people?

Like what? Can you give some examples?

Sure, Mikaelson Financial Group provides financial services (we have an economy in our region), the Aurantius Chambers provides legal services, AJ Assets, The Age, and Beacon Subsidiaries provide independent news and media that is separate from the BBC, as well as a few religious organizations, such as our version of the Church of England

Ah, I see...I wondered if anyone provided tangible goods, like flag-making or something like that.

Sebastian wins Premiership, Sinn Fein retakes the House of Commons

The New Prime Minister, Christoph Sebastian, MP for Wimbledon

The Right Honourable, Sir Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim, MP for Islwyn,
was elected as Speaker of the House of Commons for his 3rd term

After narrowly losing to Owen Stewart, who represented Sinn Fein in the December General Election last year, Christoph Sebastian, who was the leader of the Co-operative Party, managed to secure almost 60 percent of of the vote in the February General Election, beating out his competitor in Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim, a perennial candidate when it comes to the Prime Ministerial race, who garnered about 40 percent of the vote. However not all was lost for Sinn Fein, as they have managed to retake the House of Commons after being put in the Opposition Benches for the first time since the 80th Session of Parliament, during the short-lived Sherwood Premiership, Sinn Fein picked up 3 seats, while STAG and the Co-operative Party retain their single seats, in the Speakership Election, Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim was unanimously elected as Speaker, returning to the role after having been defeated by Christoph Sebastian in the previous Session of Parliament, this makes the 85th Parliament his third term in the role.

House of Commons Debates Electoral Reform after General Election

Since the conclusion of the General Election on February 19th, debates have begun on the topic of electoral reform, especially after one of the candidates for political office narrowly managed to enter the race due to a gray area within the Election Regulation Act that was not addressed beforehand, the term begun with 2 bills that were introduced by Lucas Stewart and Elisha Menzies, the MPs for Brent and Nottingham South respectively, the first was the Clarification Of Activity Requirements Sanctioning Election (C.O.A.R.S.E.) Act, which aimed to introduce more stringent requirements when it comes to participating in future elections, after a few days of debating, the C.O.A.R.S.E. Act was defeated 4 to 1. The second bill, which by comparison provided more lenient requirements for candidacy, however the bill was tabled for the foreseeable future, meanwhile the House of Lords have passed their own version of an amendment for the ERA, which has been passed down to the Commons so that it can be debated before being sent to Her Majesty for Royal Assent, other proceedings in the Commons were the reconfirmation debates for Akillian Talleyrand, one of the Crown Court Judges, His Royal Highness Prince Angus in his capacity as Chief of the General Staff, and Klaus Mikaelson as Director General of the British Broadcasting Corporation

The Culture Office, headed by Longdendale Bauheim, has been active in putting the spirit of the region in motion with events such as the N-Day Apocalypse Festival that was scheduled in the lead up to this year's N-Day event which included mini games such as Last One In, Take One Out Put One In and The Final Countdown, as well as a music festival dedicated to the Welsh holiday of St. David's Day, both events have been deemed to be successes, which are more than likely to be contributed to the ingenuity and creativity of the Culture Secretary and his Staff

"The in-game population of NSUK continues to thrive with any number of activities taking place at once on the Regional Message Board, or RMB. If you visit the region's RMB over the course of a 24 hour period at any given time you may find a lively trading post with animals and weapons aplenty. Or you may find an intense political debate over the moral and ethical standing of Communism. You may even find a battle taking place in one of the several roleplay-based wars. As regions, we often think of how much our communities are on our offsite forums and our Discord servers, and we sometimes forget how important the in-game community still is to the very survival of NationStates. In the United Kingdom, we see a thriving community of in-game players who take the time to develop alliances and factions, build long0lasting intra-regional diplomatic corps., and who let nothing but the moderators get in the way of their passionate and sometimes fiery political debates. While we typically focus our reporting on the happenings of the forum, we would be doing our populace a disservice by not highlighting the important and ongoing work and dedication of those in-game. The BBC salutes them and thanks them for their continued dedication to our region"

I really enjoyed the article about the RMB, which I think most regions (including Wintreath for long periods of its history) tend to take for granted. There's a lot of people on NS these days that don't want to join a forum or Discord, and even more that like the simplicity of the one page. It brings a lot of people together who otherwise wouldn't, and the result can be a slightly uncontrolled chaos that makes fun things happen, lol.

It is with a great deal of sadness that we must inform our friends that Prime Minister Christoph Sebastian has made the decision to resign from the office of Prime Minister due to constraints in his time availability due to real life circumstances. The Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim has assumed the post of Acting Prime Minister while a by-election for Prime Minister is now underway. Mr. Reynolds-Bauheim was also serving as Speaker of the House of Commons, and has resigned from that post to focus on leading the interim government. Mr. Elisha Menzies has been elected as the new Speaker of the House by the members with unanimous consent.

I'm sorry to hear again that you've lost your PM, but it sounds like it's a great opportunity for you to show what you've got. Best of luck in the by-election!

Stewart Wins Premiership over Acting P.M. Reynolds-Bauheim, Sinn Fein expands Majority in House of Commons

Newly elected Prime Minster Lucas Stewart

Former Prime Minister Lucas Stewart earlier this evening managed to beat Acting Prime Minister Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim with a little over 57 percent of the vote to Reynolds-Bauheim's a little under 43 percent, performing a marginally worse than Christoph Sebastian did in the February General Election, Stewart's message of regional rejuvenation resonated well with voters, as opposed to Reynolds-Bauheim's pledge of finishing what Prime Minister Sebastian had started, along with the By-election for Prime Minister, there was also a by-election for the Commons seat that was also vacated by the former Prime Minister, in this race there were 2 challengers, with a newcomer that failed to qualify for candidacy, the main opponents, Mr. V. Mikaelson, representing The Co-operative Party, and Vibhor Mikaelson, representing Sinn Fein, in the end Vibhor Mikaelson managed to retake his seat in the House of Commons, which he vacated early in January in a wider margin (62.5% to 37.5%) than the race for the Premiership. Following his opening address, Lord Stewart of Ripley (the Prime Minister's formal title) announced the composition of his cabinet, Sir Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim and Ulrich Bauheim will remain in their capacity as Deputy Prime Minister/ Foreign Secretary and Chancellor of the Exchequer, respectively Jon Hughes will be making a return as Culture Secretary, and Mark Phoe will be joining the government for the first time as Home Secretary


Houses of Parliament Busy with Legislation and Debates

The House of Commons and the House of Lords have been particularly active in the past few weeks when it comes debating legislation a few examples of this would be a amendment to the Treasury Reform Act introduced by the former Prime Minister Christoph Sebastian before his untimely resignation, the amendment dealt with removing a section of the legislation that was deemed unnecessary, which was met with unanimous approval by both Houses of Parliament, and was given Royal Assent by Her Majesty, Queen Constance II earlier this morning, another bill that had a amendment made was to the British Museum Act, which aimed to provide Her Majesty with increased powers when it came to nominating an individual to the position of Chairperson of the British Museum eliminating the need for the Prime Minister to provide input of the nomination process, which was also welcomed by both Houses without any issues. In other news the Reconfirmation Debate for The Honourable Lady, Constance St. James, in her capacity as Crown Court Judge, which is still underway as of the writing of this article.


April Begins with a Region-wide Heist
The first day of the month began with a crew of 11 men suddenly appearing in the region, all of them in strategic points of government with a single objective in mind, to make off with as much money and valuables as possible in the end, Her Majesty's Government was essentially bankrupted by this escapade, despite many calls not to concede to the thugs, Her Majesty, Queen Constance II has decided to lead the negotiations to recover at least some of the valuables, which were successful in so far as the valuables were returned, however the criminals unfortunately escaped custody via a chartered aircraft with the destination of EoGB.

The Culture Office has outdone themselves yet again with this year's installment of the Hunger Games, where several notable figures in the community participated in this event, such as the Prime Minister Lucas Stewart, the Deputy Prime Minister Aaron Reynolds-Bauheim, Culture Secretary Longdendale Bauheim, MP Klaus Mikaelson, and of course, Her Majesty, Queen Constance II, after several intense days of action and survival, Klaus Mikaelson was proclaimed the winner of the 2023 NSUK Hunger Games.
