Good day!

As we attempt to get this region organized, I'll be posting a series of calls for discussion as to the type of region that we want. While I am currently serving as the entirity of the Government of Wintreath, I pledge to seriously listen to everything posted and create the best policies out of it that I feel are best for the region.

For starters, Citizenship. Currently everyone that registers here is automatically a full member...do we want to have a specific Citizen level that is approved before someone is granted full membership? If so, what should be the requirements to receive and maintain that status?

Well, I think that citizenship is an important aspect of a NS region.

Maybe if we have some type of citizenship form to fill out that asks for Country Name, Timezone, and NS experience?

We should also have a requirement that your country must be in the region, because, well, we should.

 

I dunno... TWP functioned fine for many years without citizenship. And if we're going to be a community first, is that sort of thing really necessary? Just my 2 cents.

Both are interesting points...

Denth is basically advocating what we did in Spiritus, and it worked well in my opinion. I was working particularly on this area at the end of my tenure there, because it's an excellent opportunity to engage those new to the region...learn about them, give them the chance to ask questions, and direct them to what they might be most interested in. It may also be nice if we plan to have elections of any sort in the future, which I'm not against having on some levels. Plus, in an offhand way it encourages people to have a nation in the region, if we care about future growth and such.

On the other hand, Charax brings up interesting points too. Just because it worked well in Spiritus doesn't mean that we should adopt it as well. One could argue that requiring people to sign up for Citizenship presents a barrier to entry into the region and is a basic step to inserting politics into the region...and considering the foul atmosphere of Spiritus as of late, I'm not sure emulating it is necessarily the best thing for Wintreath.

We're already getting to the core of what kind of region we want to be, and I think it's an excellent conversation to have.

Well, I think we will need some kind of leadership here, and I think getting people involved involves them dedicating themselves (through becoming a citizen).

Ok, maybe I'm not that good, but I can provide leadership, for sure.

I just think it's a good discussion to have before making a decision. I'm not in any hurry...takes time to build up a region regardless.

Not making a citizenship system would hamper any attempt as security. There's a reason basically every respectable region has a citizenship system- they work. It's so pervasive because it's a good method of doing things. It's just a solid, dependable way of organizing people, and it will be for Wintreath as well.

Hmm... OK. What if we had two tiers to the forum? The Community areas (General Discussion, Spam Games, Roleplays) could be open to anyone with an account (Could call that Usergroup "Nomads") and the Government (maybe some +18 things or stuff you only want trusted people to see) would be open to Citizens only?

So, um, in a rather revisionist way, I'd like to scribble out my suggestion for an 18+ area, because I'd be barred. Just have one with like a big tag saying explicit or something.

So... Shouldn't you be making this happen if we're all agreed, Moot?

Mainly because I have some more ideas for the region I'd like to discuss when Winter makes the appropriate topics.

We still have to have documentation and such.
