ANNOUNCEMENT OF A CONCLAVE
An Announcement from the Apostolic Palace by His Eminence

HIS EMINENCE Crushita I, Potato Pope, has decreed that on February 9th a CONCLAVE shall be held to once and for all determine the truth or falsity of the Prophethood of Dan Quayle and finally end the great Potato-Potatoe debate. All interested parties are encouraged to announce their presence in this most holy of events here. May the HOLY SPUD show us all the truth of the matter and once again determine what is the proper doctrine of The One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.

  There IS food this time, right?  Last time all we got were complimentary Conclave pens...but those aren't edible (believe me, I tried).

The Great Starchy Cardinal Pius Robinius, Archbishop of the Cathederal of Potatoe Superior, Tender of the Garden of the Great Tuber, keeper of the Hoe of Divine Cultivation, and Guardian of the flock crop in the Holy Potatoe Empire, shall attend, as will Cardinals Schteve and Greygory of the archdioceses of Solanum and Tuberosum respectively, shall also be in attendance. 

The Cardinal Robinius shall be sure to bring plentiful food, in addition to the limited edition Conclave Pens.

LET THE CONCLAVE BEGIN

The format shall go as follows: First those who are in favour of declaring Dan Quayle a prophet of the Holy Spud shall have 2 days to make their arguments. They shall do so in BOLD TEXT to differentiate arguments from the general chatter of the conclave. The side saying that Dan Quayle is a false prophet will then have two days to make their arguments, followed by a day of voting, to finally solve this question once and for all.

Esteemed theologians and fellow members of the College of Cardinals, I rise to speak of Dan Quayle, a man who, so moved by the spirit of Our Great Spud, on the 15th of June, 482 Anno Tuberosum, wrote the pious spelling of Our Starchy Majesty, the Tuber of Greatest Wisdom, Lord of the Fields of the Earth. 

It is for this event of miraculous and divine intervention, that I stand before you today to urge the canonisation of the great Dan Quayle, and I propose a feast day of 15 June, in honour of this great achievement.  But this is not the only time that the Great Potatoe has blessed Dan Quayle with wisdom beyond his years.  After all, "My friends, no matter how rough the road may be, we can and we will never surrender to what is right."

And if, in this greatest of tasks, the Conclave does not canonise Dan Quayle, if we do not succeed,
 we run the risk of failure.  Thank you.

*gazes intently at the other Cardinals, hoping for someone to commit blasphemy in his presence*

With no votes, and only one argument I declare the issue to be... A matter of Rite and declare the official creation and sanctioning of separate Potato Rite and Potatoe Rite churches.
