Okay, so I've given this a lot of thought. Maybe too much according to some people who think I do that, but I don't really believe in overthinking things, that concept that you can overthink anything sounds weird to me for any reason other than because it takes up more time and time is limited.

There are the things I can promise for certain: I will be active. I will be motivated to try. I'll also try to take the role seriously; I'm unsure if anyone here knows me as a joke making person, as I'm probably not as funny as I try to be and I think my sarcasm and attempted humor is missed frequently because my delivery is bad or something, but if I'm already known for being serious I guess that works.

I don't usually take leadership roles in regions or in real life, even the lowest ones, so I know I don't have much experience with this, most regions find some way to disappoint me into leaving before I've been in them long enough to be nominated for anything. Or even long enough to be remembered.

But this situation is different, I looked at the candidates for Underhusen, where there must be 5 people, and unlike last time, I wasn't sure there were 5 people who seemed to actually want the job. Perfect time for someone who has only been here about 3 months to try it out if nobody else volunteered, which is why I waited to see if anyone else would.

Though I have considered the possibilities for why there is relatively little energy for this... that maybe it's actually not that big a deal, that the Underhusun doesn't do much anyway, and a lot of the possible explanations point to this being a relatively low risk position, where there's nothing wrong for a relatively new and relatively inexperienced person to try it for a month, so why not try it? Especially low risk as I don't expect or even want the first time to be Speaker of the Underhusen, I can handle being a subordinate, I have lots of experience being a sub in real life at least.

I'm still at this moment needing to read about past actions of the Underhusen, the power and responsibility of the Underhusen, and about what regions similar to this one in structure do with elected lower posts, all to get ideas of what I should be doing since there isn't really a mentor system for Underhusen like there is with new citizens, but I promise to do these things in time to try to do something positive for Wintreath before the end of the month so I won't feel useless.

I'm uncertain if I should say anything in predicting what is likely to be posted or asked in response... seems like when this happens it's mostly about potatoes, and I'm not even sure how that's relevant as I've checked the Underhusen records at least a little and it seems to have almost nothing to do with potatoes or other produce. Also being Irish-American I have to deal with potato stereotypes on occasion, so I don't want to think about potatoes because that's annoying, even if not as annoying as being asked if a have soul, or being asked if I know any good bars even though I avoid those centers of harassment like the Great Potato Famine and am afraid to consume alcohol anywhere outside of my small locked home. Though maybe I should just take that as an indication that it's not meant to be taken as seriously as I thought if that's how these things can end up being decided? Uncertain. Though I'll take whatever non-serious questions you all have if that's tradition. I'll also take serious questions about specific Underhusen issues if anyone has anything to ask about. Would give me a better idea of the kinds of decisions I need to make anyway, and better to give everyone more of a chance to get to know me. I'm not sure how long one needs to be in a region, or how active, to be recognized as a regular, but I've been in regions longer than this before without anyone knowing who I was and not noticing when I left, so I can't be disappointed or upset if anyone/everyone here doesn't know who I am.

I just want to be sure to take this the appropriate amount of seriously, as I both hate being a nobody since irl I'm just the one who will never be as good as my perfect older brother, so I can't not try when there's a good opportunity for it, equally as much as I hate disappointing people for not being as good as my perfect older brother, so when I do try I have to not be bad at it. That and I don't think people take irl elections seriously enough sometimes, and that's a problem, because that's how we end up with Brexit, or Trump.

also, younger sibling here, being in the shadow of the older one always sucks. my older sister had the perfect grades all the time. All As on every report card since middle school and took super advanced math and science classes while I'm getting Cs and Ds in regular ed shit and I feel so stupid in comparison. She's always so serious, looks like her life is all set out for her while I feel like a dipshit stoner without the weed who's basically a side character in some shitty comedy film. You've just got to find that one thing you're better at than them (in my case it's art and creative stuff) and rub it in their face
