  • Allright guys, here go the first "official" material regarding the "Kendo" *snickers* "Tournament" (pffftt). :)

I will wait a week for formal registration of the following "characters", some positions will be available after the start. One person can occupy only one position at a time and it may be difficult to change the one you have depending on what that position is.

    The simple ones are:

    Spectator.
Is present in every scene of event, can only comment, but is not limited to the type or extent of opinion one can express. Is *very* at harms way but has a privilege to be ressurected at any time. :)

    Journalist.
Has the privilege to review the scene of action and "spot" changes that suddenly occur on their whim, can interrogate any other person participating, can make a "headline" report with some interesting info, a scoop or a scandal. Should be as nasty and incursive as they can to bring pressure to the more corrupt ones.  8) In addition never gets injured or harmed... somehow... but that's how it is. :)

    Judge.
Also physically invulnerable but extremely important person. Controls, devises and orchestrates how fights go, what happens to the scene, how many people die and in what sick, horrible and humorous ways...  ;D Can cheat, accept bribes, ignore my requests and commands. One or two at most are necessary. Must complete their part once every week and play out the fights for all designated rounds and if they can't I will for them. :)

(Any other idea if I will approve of it.)

    The King.
The King can interfere into our little illegal- *achem* Fine! Fine Event! Interfere at any time in any way he wishes. (Allready occupied)

    The Host.
Me, I run the event, I can do stuff, change stuff, mix stuff, give a go to cheating or resort to that, but I'm not invulnerable...  ::)

    Team Owner.
Is the "meat" of the show, provides the combatants and many other important components to the show. Should act in appropriate way, can cheat but can't influence the stage directly. It's their glory or shame in winning or losing. :D

    *-------------------*

Regarding cheating. It is allowed and encouraged but must be "declared" as a happened fact/instance in a post. It may be a not common knowledge to the rest of characters but at least the players should be notified, but don't act if they know about it if they as characters don't know.

    *-------------------*

    Registering the teams themselves.

Every team consists of their manager/owner who desires glory (and who knows what else). Any introduction will do or you can skip it alltogether. Here and everywhere else goes the rule that you can always be very brief and uninformative, or go to whatever lengths you want in describing anything.

A specific scene for some phase of the tournament (quarterfinal, semifinal, final, etc). Someone will pick which scenes will be used, how and when.

Prizes. Can be absolutely anything, ridiculous, or nothing at all. :D

Each team can present two main players and an auxilary replacements for each one. Depending on amount of teams one or both "slots" will be chosen. Describe in order of importance.

Any player is described as follows: name, physical prowess, moral strength and a chosen/random attribute with it's brief description (what it is, why this person/thing has it and why it is significant). The three attributes sum is 15, minimum for any is 1, distribute as you please. Also you can add as much or little info about the player as you wish in any kind of category. Strength is meant to represent overall physical potential, moral strength means how many deaths/abuse/horror the player can take before becoming a deformed drooling shadow of himself/itself, will decrease when appropriate, can reach negative numbers. The third one is for the fun factor and to help flesh out the essence of the player, can also and will be used in fights to determine what interesting actions the Judges will think for them to do.

Primary and secondary players should also have a clause when they become unusable and must be replaced by their reservists. Death count, some event, anything else, but it's mandatory to have something.

    *-------------------*

    How fights work.
A Judge pits his designated players and compares their stats. The honest way is to roll a d6 for each stat, add that number to corresponding stat then compare who has more superiority overall. But! One can just ignore that all and devise their own story however they want. Just try and provide some pretense for the view of "fairness". :P (The media is watching you!) (A hint: both players can die during, after and before fights along with countless innocent people! ;) )

For all won fights a surviving and eligible player should receive a +1 to all his stats (bonuses can stack) but that again can be ignored by the Judges! XD Also, appropriate events can add some clauses that affect anything (stats, etc) on the whole stage, entire game continuity or just a single fight, or even during a small episode of a fight. Go nuts, but this is primarily a focus of Journalists.

So far so many rules. I will post my own team below, if you want to ask or proposes something or just register, this is the thread for the moment.

  • Team Manticore

Manager: Viktor Manticore, a sick middle aged bastard who is filthy rich and has some strange ways to force people to submit to him (although only in his home country and abroad only to his subjects, to some extent).
The first thing he did upon arriving to the main event headquarters was pointing a finger to a random janitor and making him his primary player. The poor man nearly wet himself from horror. Is extremely vain, spoiled and impatient.

Scene: A Super Bowl Dome in the middle of border town. Can space some 3000 people, has modest but functional equipment for usual sports.

Prizes: (the Host has long refused to issue any prizes to the prize cache but after his citizens begged to donate their own money (with guns pointed to their heads) he kindly agreed to provide the following items)
a broken and unusuable space shuttle; 10,000,000,000 painkokus (worthless in local currency), a dirty plastic bucket from a children kit, some ordinary hair comb, some chocolate golden medals, a bag of empty bottles, some random toy flag of some fictional country and an abandoned crying baby (taken care of an "iconic" alien like we normally imagine them in fictional movies - big head, black eyes, a shiny costume, etc).

    Primary player:
A nameless poor scared janitor whose name tag no one cares to read. Strength 3 (kinda weak), Morale 4 (kinda resilient), Sweeping 8 (he did that for most of his life). Gets useless when his morale reaches 0 by any means. The poor chap led a simple and fair life... until it is about to end in the hellhole this event should turn out to be! XD Imagine an average janitor, that's all to say about him.

    Primary replacement:
His beloved stool. Strength 2 (just a wooden one), Morale 1 (breaks easily), Divine Intervention 12 (it stood in various locations for over 50 years, ever protected by some whim of the Destiny and only experienced minor tear and wear there and here).

    Secondary player:
UBERMENCH!!! (that's his name) Strength 10 (hell yeah!), Morale 4 (a zealot), Humanity 1 (just another killing machine with brain taken from deranged battle scarred soldier executed for disgusting murders). Will crumble and malfunction if either destroyed physically or gets a proof that he is just a sick abomination (conscience kicks in). Yes yes, this is the ultimate killing machine invented by an equally sick Dr. Shultz in his (not so hidden) military base (that has a whole tourism industry about it regarding the evilness of science - a very profitable business even if many tourists get kidnapped or outright killed). Is regarded by the doctor and his followers and same minded colleagues as the pinnacle of human evolution. Just look at those machine guns, flamers, sharp automatic rotating claws and chromed armored plating. Moralists surely scream about it being an abomination but what do they know?!  ::)

    Secondary replacement:
A soul of a drunkard. Strength 1 (telekinesis), Morale 8 (can weather A LOT of abuse, been around for so long, never sober even in afterlife), Scary Presence 6 (is a pro at fucking with people's mind and scaring the shit out). If he were human he could have told a lot about himself at the bottle of booze, but now he just wanders aimlessly, usually invisible... and invisible now as well!  :o

(So far so much, I might alter something later, but that's a starter for other teams.)

  • A fascinating idea! A little outside my realm of RP understanding at the moment, but I'm eager to see this take shape and watch how it works as it comes along. :)

I'll make a forum for this shortly.

  •  The Persian Elite

Manager: The Golden Persian, only known title and name, is of unknown origin. Is usually fully bare, exposing a well sculpted, tall body and a very handsome face. Short, frosted blonde hair, violet eyes, lightly tanned skin with blue tribal tattoos. Has surrounded with a group of people that will be joining in the tournament. The Golden Persian is mysterious, does not like gender pronouns, is a naturalistic pantheist, is slightly vain, and omnisexual.

Scene: A Romanesque like Colosseum with slightly Gothic architecture. Holds a variety of exotic animals (all treated very highly), and random, very customization pit traps. Can hold approximately 5000 people and/or others.

    Prizes: A personal lap dance by any one of the four team members (all for some reason highly skilled); An exotic animal; A magic lamp (with an ire genie who will not grant wishes, finding it demeaning, but makes good company); Some fine wine; Mineral water (minerals extraterrestrial...unknown effects...The Persian Elite holds no liability for any possible side effects); A dragon scale (just for novelty);

    Primary player:
Azure: 5 strength(Body became very adaptable and hardened to Earth conditions...plus knows some wicked martial arts; 6 moral (Being extraterrestrial, had to adapt fast for Earth, and carry's this adaption constantly, hardening moral); 4 Alien Nature(Hasn't had exposure to everything on Earth. Certain things may affect Azure positively or negatively, big or small ways...who knows, maybe water boosts stats, or causes hives)
    Appearance
    Combat
    Personality

    Primary replacement:
N/a for now...people/others may become enticed by The Golden Persians mystery and vast knowledge....and may join

    Secondary player:
Nova Arrakis Polaris: 4 strength(Has to keep his body at least somewhat in check, is a mercenary/incubus after all); 7 moral (Nova has seen, done, and experienced so many things that nothing truly shakes to the core...not even death, for how can death effect the undead); 4 hellish power (you know...the whole demonic gig thing...fires, transforming into monsters, and whatnot...also, as technically a sex demon...well, the fun never ends.)
    Appearance
    Combat

  • Nice! Very nice, should be interesting how Judge/s play those characters out. :) Well, we can have at bare minimum a 4 player tournament (2 phases), would be nice if at least two more teams signed up, also 1-2 Judges would be nice (although I can take their place if needed). Also, Journalists! Journalists should be fun. :) Journalists and Spectators will be able to join freely after the event starts.

  • Allright, now I'm disturbed. Is this ALL the attention I'm gonna get? If it is, I'm aborting this whole idea and might get idle for long period of time again.

  • Just from my perspective, but the concept still sounds confusing to me and I don't really understand this particular activity...maybe that's why you haven't gotten much of a response. Could you perhaps simplify how the game will be played?

  • Sorry for the delay - had to replace my keyboard. Well, I understand, but what I'm trying to do is to have a very "number-free", "minimal rules" imaginative activity. As long as one respects other's role and their previous actions one can say/roleplay anything witty/wild/gory/whatever else they please. The idea is that there's this kendo tournament overtaken by mad/greedy/selfish businessmen who love killing, violence and stupidity. Accordingly there are various people like Judges who decide the fate of contestants/combatants; Journalists who meddle in everyone's business, expose nasty sides of the moguls/anyone else, spread false or true information at their pleasure; Spectators - people in the crowd who can get easily slain for silly reasons (and immediately resurrected) and any other role that fits the overall idea/activity. Also, you as the King have just as much influence when and if you care enough. :) I'm sorry if my previous descriptions weren't accurate enough or if I wasn't clear enough.

As for the process it will look like this: Opening; Round 1, Round 2.... Semifinals/Finals; Ending. Anyone can post their input at any time before and after the rounds themselves, like, a mogul bribes a judge, a journalist learns of it, blackmails the mogul, the round commences, results and the story of a fight is posted, spectators say how they felt about the flow of things and then journalist exposes the mogul even though he got what he wanted; another fight is resolved until the round is completed and so on. To put it simply, anyone can add their respective input since I have signaled the start of event up until I conclude it (shortly after the prizes are given out). I hope that clarifies things...
