After months of development, it is with great pleasure that I am announcing the launch of our new Forum Badge system!
Badges are small icons located on forum members’ profiles that signify that they have completed tasks worthy of recognition and serve as symbols of achievement for getting involved throughout the many areas and opportunities of Wintreath. Ranging from winning a forum game to posting original works to the Halls of Art and Writing to recruitment to joining the official Minecraft server to donating to becoming an ambassador to joining a familial house to climbing the ranks of the RP Guild, forum badges are meant to both show off your accomplishments as well as all that Wintreath has to offer. New and don’t know where to get started, or well-established and looking for something new? Check to see what badges you have yet to earn for plenty of ideas!
Forum badges will be displayed on everyone’s profiles – click my profile to see what it looks like. At the bottom of your profile, it will show all of the recent badges you have been awarded. Hover your cursor over each badge to show their names and descriptions. You can then click the “Show All Badges” button at the top-right of that section (or click the “Badges” button in the “Actions” section to the right) to show each badge you have been awarded as well as their names, descriptions, and when you were awarded them. Underneath this section, you will see a “Badge Opportunities” section, which lists all of the badges you have yet to be awarded.
Currently, all badges will be awarded manually by Cabinet members. At first, I will try to go through everyone’s profiles and award the appropriate badges to those who have earned them, but I am sure to miss quite a few. For these and future badges you may earn, visit the newly created
Badge Usage, Reclamation, Discussion, Organization, and Creation Kiosk, which is located in the Amalyan Quarter. There you can simply post that you’ve completed the requirements for a badge but have yet to be awarded it, and I’ll fix it as soon as possible. You can also give ideas or feedback on the forum badge system there as well.
Since this is just being launched, we still have ideas for future updates, but we want to get it off the ground first. If anyone has any comments or questions, please let me know either here or in the aforementioned badge thread.
I also want to give a big thanks to Wintermoot for putting in countless hours and helping me create this badge system. While I organized and fleshed out the ideas for the badges then created the actual badge graphics, Wintermoot made it all possible to be brought to the forums by creating a way to upload the badge images to the forums, a badge administration page that allows for the creation and management of badges, the badge sections on profiles, as well as a simple way for Cabinet members to award people the badges.
