Hi, Idek if I am allowed to GM a RP at this point so if I can't please tell me and I will delete this. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a Game of Thrones themed RP, in a sort of what if scenario. Main basis: The Game of Thrones universe but several hundred years in the future. The Seven Kingdoms have returned to being just that, Seven Kingdoms and tensions between them have reached an all time high. Weaponry (of most groups) has increased to somewhere in-between American Civil War and WWI technology. And one death can Set everything in motion.
Quick Summary: GoT WWI. Prior knowledge of Game of Thrones or A Song of Ice and Fire not required, just do some light background research so you can get a gist of the factions involved, AKA each of the Seven Kingdoms.

Factions: Kingdoms of the North ((and Dorne because Dorne)), and Kingdoms of the South, (Because that makes it easier)

Some alternate races if you do not wish to be specifically one of the houses armies: Dothraki (limited technologically but superior in hand-to-hand combat, mounted cavalry, and stealth when using bows and other primitive weapons.), Free Folk or Wildlings (Similar to Dothraki but with better usage of modern weapons due to trying to assimilate, also feature better survivability in the cold.).
Note: these special groups are not limited to area, I.E. the north can have dothraki and the south can have free folk, but they would be rare.

REGION SPECIFIC UNITS (Not including standard armies of each house)
Union of Ice
Knights Watch (Highly Trained Units used as shock troops now)
Free Folk Legion (Group of purely free folk, utilized as scouts and Guerilla troops)
Direwolves Armored Brigade (one of the only fully developed armored brigades available, with most advanced vehicles.)
The White Walker Corps (Not actually white walkers, utilize stealth, deception tactics, and several chemicals to confuse and disorient enemies, often attack under a cloud of smoke.)

Alliance of the Southern Kingdoms
Dothraki Horde (Most Powerful Cavalry Force in Westeros)
Greyjoy Navies (Very Strong naval force, but limited in land attack, specialized for sea combat)
Dragons of the Targaryen's (Not actual dragons, but one of the biggest of the very few aerial units, and the most skilled.)   

note that the Dothraki horde is the most powerful in sheer size and skill, if Northern Dothraki units were engaged against a similar sized unit in the south they would be equally matched.


Please let me know what you think. There will be a combat IC, OOC, and domestic IC for in camp and trench dialogue between participating people.

I like the idea of a Game of Thrones RP.

But I am confused about the premise of this RP. When I saw the title I assumed it would be seven separate kingdoms, plus Targaryens somewhere. That would offer a lot of potential for diplomacy. Temporary alliances. Coalitions. Betrayal. Doesn't feel like Game of Thrones without betrayal. Not really possible with just two pre-defined always-hostile sides. Does this imply that the intent is to just focus on the fighting? Though I don't think that Dothraki + Greyjoy vs. this "Union of Ice" makes any sense, I can see how that could at least be completely awesome and believe they need to make a Total War video game for that after they finish the Total Warhammer series. But I ask because I find this confusing: "The Seven Kingdoms have returned to being just that". It sounds like they haven't returned to being seven kingdoms, it's just two kingdoms now, simple North vs. South.

You didn't mention a good or bad side. Would everyone who joins pick a side then? And what role would the players have, soldiers? Generals? Nobles? Any?
And what would your role be here? I'm not sure if there's a distinct goal or plot to be followed, so I don't know what you'll be saying to make things proceed other than giving background on alternate-Westeros when needed.

Since the forum displayed interest in Game of Thrones, I've been looking forward to an RP with it, but I may not join this one as I don't think I can be a character I want to RP like a diplomatic but strong Baratheon woman, carefully measuring the threat of the Martells, Tyrells, and whoever starts in the Crownlands and trying to guess their intent, possibly allying with one for the benefit of the Stormlands. I still want your RP to succeed, if the focus will be on the fighting between two big sides, that part should be very interesting and I want to see how it goes, it's just not what I'd be good at.

  The premise is less *Game of Thrones* and more set in Westeros. Though in the domestic ic there can be the political/general style that effects the combat ic. I could even have a separate thread for just that..... There is so good or bad side because war isn't always good or bad. There are seven kingdoms, but there are alliances, like in WWI. There can be any of those roles, it all depends on which part of the war you are focusing on. I will be certain characters in each thread, such as commanders and political leaders of the more powerful parties involved, to keep things on track. There will most likely be lots of infighting as well as fighting opposing sides, thus betrayals can occur and nations become their own fighting force if they wish. etc. As far as goal, why its similar to the show, the goal is to successfully combine each portion of the war and try and reach a clear victor.

I'll just put out the argument that it's unlikely for technology to have advanced that quickly, considering how stagnant it's been in Planetos for the last 8000 years.

i always have a distaste for anything that is themed around "World War but (setting)". Like, if you're using the same tech and general premise as OTL, at that point just set in on Earth.

Hey Guys, just joined and was looking about. Was wondering if there was still interest in a Game of Thrones RP? I have done a couple over the years and still have some fun ideas about doing one. Would even be willing to run it if people want.

So following up on this. I have three ideas for a game

1) The War of the Five Kings - An obvious choice, but not limited to Westeros and also including the Other's threat to the north.

2) Robert's Rebellion - Allows for more recognized characters and a lot of possible outcomes.

3) The First Blackfyre Rebellion - Just a fun era in my opinion to play in.

I like #3; historical ASOIAF is always nice.
