long time ago back in the day when I was seriously into NS in Feudal Japan I used to run a few tournaments of Kendo Tournament where various characters killed and were killed in various locations for profane reasons and with a variety of methods. It was a real tournament with places (1. - 16. and the like) "real" prizes (pooled by participants and hosts) and my somewhat hilarious narrative.
In Versutian Federation I tried to restart this bloody tradition of mine but I saw very little interest and that led me to go completely idle there.
But who knows, I might just interest you guys in entertaining me and yourselves.
I see there already are several RP projects but if my idea is different and fun enough I'd like to present the gist of it.
There can be as little or as much participation as one wants. There will be different roles, occupied or not, depending on the interest you will show: Host (me) - leads, arranges, cheats and rules supreme over the course of the game; Monarch - your Monarch who has similar powers and keeps me in check; Team Owners - who "own" participants, and who want to win (or have a good time); Judges - they describe how the fights went (as humorously as they can); Journalists - provide small changes to the "stage" in subtle ways; Spectators - just stand in the harms way and comment away as they please; maybe something else if it fits the idea of wicked sports. Some roles will be only avaivable before the start, some can be joined in the process, or all can be a subject to change if me and Monarch choose so.
The process is as follows, a 2x amount of participants are chosen (4/8/16...) and a tournament tree is drawn. They fight, gain points, move up or down the ladder and eventually everyone ends up in some position. That's the bones. At any time any event can take place (a starting speech, a press conference, small unimportant events between spectators, changes of participants, change of stage, etc, etc).
The concrete rules are not set yet but this is the main idea. How many are interested? How many teams/participants there will be? How many other people will want to participate in what ways? What questions do you have to me?
If I see enough interest I will start drafting the main rules and procedures. The basics will be that characters that will go to the grinder will have three stats (physical prowess, moral strength and some random chosen statistic that describes the character); as much info as you want can be added to that but to set up a simple character is very easy. But the more info is there, the more options the Judges will have to maim your unfortunate "sportsmen" in any humorous way they will think of.
As for characters, all goes, even inanimate objects or just plain weak/retarded humanoids/etc/anything - go totally wild!
Stages will change, participants will be killed many times over and resurrected, incapacitated people will be thrown against other maimed and unintelligent participants in a silent and drooling standoffs, cheating is encouraged, prizes will be divided unevenly and with bias, hell will be on you all!
