The Sixth Robin Steak Fry

Welcome to the SIXTH Robin Steak Fry my friends!!  As always, candidates, feel free to come discuss your vision for the future of Wintreath, visit with your future constituents, and more—and all over some of the finest steaks around!  So without further ado:Good evening candidates, citizens and esteemed envoys!  Welcome to this the 6th Harkin Robin Steak Fry!  Today we have assembled the few candidates from throughout Wintreath who actually have agreed to run for the Underhusen to discuss with you, the citizenry, their view of Wintreath as it stands today, what they want to go forward with in the 23rd Underhusen, and what they hope to see Wintreath become in the future.  The (first few) questions are generally the same every election and are as follows:

1. Before we get into the real meat of the fry, as always, I want to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think should the main goals of our 23rd legislature? 

2. As has been shown throughout history, both online and in the real world, a community must grow if it is to prosper and survive.  What do you believe is the best way forward to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath in NationStates and beyond?  Do you see the Underhusen as something capable of spurring growth through legislative action?

3. What, other than inactivity in a few sections of the forums, do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point both as a NationStates political entity and as a community?

4. Do other NS regions have any programs or operations that you think we could emulate to enrich our community here in Wintreath?  If so, please share, that we might emulate them!!

5. Who is your favourite politician (real or fictional) from history and why?

6. What is your favourite form of government?  Why?

7. What do you think makes a successful democracy? 

8. Are you capable of being online for the duration of this session of the Underhusen?  How "active" do you consider yourself on the forums?

9. And now the coolest question—what questions do you feel every candidate should be asked?  As this is a more informal debate (it's a steak fry, after all) feel free to engage in debate (but preferably productive discussion) with your fellow candidates and upstanding citizens of the Wintreath community! 

10. And now, arguably the most important question of them all—how would you like your steak?

1. Before we get into the real meat of the fry, as always, I want to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think should the main goals of our 23rd legislature? 

It was actually on a last minute whim, since I was debating on if I was going to run this term or not.  But I ended up deciding that it'd be nice to have an actual election as opposed to it just being a cut and dry result.  I think main goals should be going back to making things transparent for the citizens.  This means getting them included on all topics that concern them.

2. As has been shown throughout history, both online and in the real world, a community must grow if it is to prosper and survive.  What do you believe is the best way forward to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath in NationStates and beyond?  Do you see the Underhusen as something capable of spurring growth through legislative action?

That's a tricky question since I've been an advocate of severing ties with Nationstates...believing that we're not at the appoint of achieving actual growth with it anymore.  I'm always open to being proven wrong, however.  I do see that, with the right legislation being passed, the UH could be instrumental in helping spur that growth.  But most of that growth relies on the people of the region, both in government and not.

3. What, other than inactivity in a few sections of the forums, do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point both as a NationStates political entity and as a community?

No, I think that's the biggest issue, and will always be the biggest issue.  When there's lack of involvement, it creates disinterest, and thus inactivity.  The fact that Werewolf has been quiet since February has been proof of this.  I applaud efforts to get people together to find a way to spur interest (and likewise applaud Gerrick for the attempt at a WW Taskforce)...but there has to be an endgame to those talks.  When there's not, then things go with a whimper, and not a bang.

4. Do other NS regions have any programs or operations that you think we could emulate to enrich our community here in Wintreath?  If so, please share, that we might emulate them!!

As always, the only one I can usually think of is 10KI.  They've been around since the beginning of NS, and they're still going strong.  Even with Grub stepping down, activity hasn't faltered in the slightest.  So they're obviously doing something right that we can learn from.  What's funny is that they're an isolationist region that is very selective on who they appoint to their government offices, and people love to talk bad about them.  But they're still the most active player-created region out there.

5. Who is your favourite politician (real or fictional) from history and why?
Bernie Sanders.  He stands for the people, and takes a stance on issues that actually would benefit the people.

6. What is your favourite form of government?  Why?

As known, I tend to fall more into being a Democratic Socialist.  I believe that people should have more freedoms...but I do also believe that things like Healthcare, schooling, and other necessities should be free.

7. What do you think makes a successful democracy? 
People actually wanting a democracy.

8. Are you capable of being online for the duration of this session of the Underhusen?  How "active" do you consider yourself on the forums?

Yes.  I was known for being pretty active, and I hope to achieve that again in this session.

9. And now the coolest question—what questions do you feel every candidate should be asked?  As this is a more informal debate (it's a steak fry, after all) feel free to engage in debate (but preferably productive discussion) with your fellow candidates and upstanding citizens of the Wintreath community! 

These questions, for sure.  Also, ones like "What sets you apart from the other candidates?" or questions that give you an idea of what their viewpoints on important issues in the region are.

10. And now, arguably the most important question of them all—how would you like your steak?

Medium well, please.

1. Before we get into the real meat of the fry, as always, I want to ask all of you—what make you decide to run for the Underhusen?  What do you think should the main goals of our 23rd legislature? 

I believe that I can be a fairly balanced voice of reason in the UH.

2. As has been shown throughout history, both online and in the real world, a community must grow if it is to prosper and survive.  What do you believe is the best way forward to catalyse growth and the expansion of Wintreath in NationStates and beyond?  Do you see the Underhusen as something capable of spurring growth through legislative action?

I said it before and I will say it again: RP, RP, RP. Hard to legislate for that so we need to encourage participation in RP.

3. What, other than inactivity in a few sections of the forums, do you think is the biggest problem facing Wintreath at this point both as a NationStates political entity and as a community?

Lack of Growth. We need to increase the number of new people coming in who can stay here.

4. Do other NS regions have any programs or operations that you think we could emulate to enrich our community here in Wintreath?  If so, please share, that we might emulate them!!

Well, I cant really say, havent had much in the way of experience with other regions.

5. Who is your favourite politician (real or fictional) from history and why?

Eugene McCarthy, FDR, LKY

6. What is your favourite form of government?  Why?

Democratic Socialism with capitalism thrown in there.

7. What do you think makes a successful democracy? 

Participation and informed masses.

8. Are you capable of being online for the duration of this session of the Underhusen?  How "active" do you consider yourself on the forums?

Yes and Very.
