Oh, for fuck's sake. How many times do I have to spell it out:
The TECHNOLOGY is CURRENT, meaning this RP has it's maximum technology level set up to the level of technology we had on 15 August 2017 (or whatever date you are reading this). Yes, that includes social media, microsatellites, CRISPR, the F-35, and so on. We, or at least the more technologically advanced nations (which is pretty much everyone since nobody, save those whose aesthetics trump their gameplay needs, likes to be behind in the slightest), all have access to this technology or less, but we do not have anything that is beyond what is the proven cutting edge.
Some examples:
-Moon landings can be done (at considerable expense), but no Mars mission or permanent Lunar base.
-Fifth-generation stealth fighters have taken to the skies with connections to very useful sat links, but they didn't take off to provide air support to working combat walkers.
-Gene editing can be done to plants or bacterium to make them do nifty things like increase farm yields and produce medicine, but it can't be applied to humans to make a scientifically superior "master race", no matter how hard your modern Hitler expy wants it.
-Electric cars exist, although they're still prohibitively expensive for everyone outside the upper classes (but they're getting less so every day!).
The CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER, meaning the way we structure and space out causal events, STARTS ON THE YEAR 2000. This is a completely meaningless change that serves nothing but the aesthetic of IC historical dates, and since there's so much confusion over the fact that the calendars on our iPhone 7s would be reading 2003 in this world, I should probably just give it up to spare everyone the confusion.
