Well one option is to leave applications open until there is an actual Star Fleet irl. Can roleplay easier if there's a real life example. Maybe that was the intent?

Biography: On the surface, Jacobus is a kind-hearted, genial old man, but in reality, he is cold, cunning and manipulative. He has been in the military for the better part of 40 years, and has served his nation of New Hatfield well as a field engineer with a penchant for designing mind-bogglingly complex weaponry with little more than bits of metal and a few circuit boards.

He is on this mission not because of any desire to do good, but to find the whereabouts of Hendrik Wolfskemer - and end his life to reclaim something that was stolen from him.

Although not actively malicious, he will brutally stab/shoot/incinerate/liquefy/bash in the skull of anyone and anything that gets in his way.

Role: Field engineer and architect.

Special: Advanced weapons training on par with any hardened veteran who's spent his life in the military, and cybernetic implants that allow him to move with the speed and grace of a much younger man.

It would be rad if Hendrik and HKR found some way to stay alive, and end up leading the current crew through a bread crumb trail to distant planets and stuff.

I definitely intended on Zerick to survive, though I didn't think he'd get off the planet he crashed on.
