This was an interesting article I read back in May and bookmarked to bring up here, but then I forgot about it until I ran across the bookmark just now. Basically, the article details research and studies that show that liberals and conservatives are prejudice in equal measure against people with opposing views. Even more interesting, it seems that being more educated doesn't reduce prejudice, just teaches people to cover it up better. The article ends by suggesting the best way to increase tolerance is to have contact with people on the other side as friends and family and to try to work toward a shared vision (everyone wants safe neighborhoods, for example).

What are your thoughts here?

So it's basically no more than saying "They might have prejudice, but if you don't like it, you're prejudiced against the prejudists!" I'm not too impressed by the low quality of his conclusions, not even convinced that he read the articles he is citing.

Sounds kind of like the "If you fight hate with hate, you're just as bad." people who don't seem to want to get anything done.

Or worse, it might be written by one of those self-proclaimed "centrists" who embrace the Golden Mean Fallacy, say "both sides are wrong", then wander off acting smug and superior without contributing anything meaningful to the discussion.

I rate it 2/10.
