So does anyone have some cool grand ideas that they feel really would be awesome?  Because I'm open to anything here.

All I can think about space-sci-fi wise is the game The Long Journey Home lol.

Oh how is that?  And we also have to start thinking about transitioning to playing soon.  You reckon I should just mention everyone who has been interested in the past? 

That and create a sign-up thread.

I do have ideas about a sci-fi universe, but I am jealously guarding them for my own short story universe. I'll lob a few ideas your way though:

-Since we are working with a presumably infinite universe, we can have infinite possibilities with it. I definitely think we should take the 'Rick and Morty' approach to this RP: absurd, funny plotlines and an entire universe of possibilities to dive into and explore.

-Space fantasy, a la Star Wars, could work here. We could be the space equivalent of a gang of knights errant or a post-renaissance caravel exploring the New World.

-Are we part of a greater organization like in Star Trek, or are we on our own like in Firefly? This is a question that needs to be answered.

I believe that we're a part of a greater organization known as Wintreath.

We are an expedition assembled and funded by the nation of Wintreath. Our primary mission is to explore the unknown reaches of space with our initial orders being to find out what happened with the first expedition.

Oki doki!  Shall we get a sort character app thread going then or is there anything else I'm forgetting that we need to discuss?

We should talk about the ship. Is it the same/similar design as the first ship or a big upgrade?

I think it should be an upgrade. Perhaps sleeker design, more efficiency in its design, etc. I don't know how it would be represented in a picture if we want a picture.

Perhaps it could be a bit smaller as it would have had to have been built somewhat quickly in order to save the old crew. Plus, the government might not have authorized the spending on another very large ship to go out after the last one was destroyed.

But as Zemas said, perhaps more efficient and advanced (to make up for the smaller size).
