  • I'm merely a visitor, so I wouldn't be perfectly acquainted with all the rules!

Do you smell anything particular, @xXTheHydraXx?

  • Well, it smells as it always has for the past 20 years I've been here.

@Crushita How do you like the activities/events here?

OOC: I didn't get a notification from the mention...

  • Per the PM,

For the purpose of this game, the spy will only need to specify that they are in a cathedral to win.

    So...nice work Sir Robin.
I suspected you until the German pun. I didn't get it, but I assumed there must have been a 'right answer' I just wasn't seeing, and so I switched my focus to Hydra because his answers just seemed too vague.
In hindsight, I'm surprised Trader didn't jump down your throat though at suggesting you were a musician too, since it's not like roles are repeated.

  • Congrats, Robin, the Spy! As Doc said, Robin's answer was sufficient. I've updated the OP with all questions and answers. Here's all of the info I sent out:

Location: A Cathedral for the Holy Tuber
As we all know, Potatoeism is the One True Faith of Wintreath. Churches to the Great Spud can be found all over the region -- our game will take place in a grand cathedral, which draws crowds both from within and without the city. For the purpose of this game, the spy will only need to specify that they are in a cathedral to win.

    Roles
xXTheHydraXx: Bishop -- You are the senior member of the Church of the Holy Tuber in the city, entrusted with its authority and oversight.
North: Priest -- You are a humble priest, a lowly clergyman who helps with services and takes care of the cathedral.
trader: Choirboy -- You are a young boy with a heavenly voice who regularly sings in the choir at the cathedral.
DekuNut: Parishioner -- You are an ordinary congregant – someone who regularly attends services at this particular cathedral.
Doc: Pilgrim -- You are a worshiper of the Holy Tuber who has come from out of town to visit and pray at the cathedral.
Crushita: Tourist -- You are sightseer from out of town who has come to visit the city and its cathedral.
taulover: Beggar -- You are a local homeless person who regularly asks for alms from those who enter the cathedral.

Right, but depending on interpretation, that may mean that answers that are too specific are still wrong. Of course, that'd be unfair, I just wanted a confirmation.
Also out of curiosity which cathedral were we actually in then @taulover ?
So not only were you a spy, but a Heretic! For you did not realize that you were in the house of the One True Faith! :P

  • My Dear Jean-Luc!
  • Hey you guys weren't praising the holy tuber openly!! Y'all were just feeding the poor and caring for the sick!! :P

Also I thought Spyfall was IRL places only.

And choirboy really expains why @trader wasn't suspicious because I was really implying that I was a organist/composer.

Also, the German pun was legit.  That small change makes "playing music" into "suffering."  :P

  • Oh yeah, I thought that he was one of the real musicy people. I actually suspected you for the longest time @Doc. You asked if you had to pay to be here, which made no sense unless you had no clue where we were.
Remember, there is no reason to panic, nothing is on fire.

  • Trader, again, sometimes in Spyfall you ask a question everyone else knows the answer to because you're hoping that the guy gives an obviously wrong answer.
Example: on a submarine, I ask 'hey, it's a little hot in here, mind if I pop a window?' and the Spy essentially says 'sure'. Instantly we all know who he is. (An appropriate, sufficiently oblique answer could simply be 'eh, I'd rather not let the rain in'.)
That's how I've generally played the game - asking questions that don't necessarily 'make sense' as people asking these within the context of the area that we're supposedly in (because if we're actually in this area to begin with, you'd think the spy could figure out where we were within about 3 seconds just by glancing around), but to suss out whether or not the other guy is giving the right sorts of answers.

Obviously I guess that might not be fun in a forum-game context, where somebody giving an obviously wrong answer ends the fun a little too quickly, which isn't a problem in an in-person game since you can just all laugh it up and then deal out a new round, but eh.
