I'll be on the stake next to yours. My bf and I were all set to start watching and then BOOM! We don't get VH1. Watched it just now though. And.....I'm not as impressed as I hoped I would be.

Oy veh for us both. I had to work today so I couldn't catch up and I work again tomorrow so no RuPaul for me.....(to think this show once annoyed me for how frequently my younger sister would have it on, now I'm mildly addicted)

I used to hold the standard point of view of very young trans women nowadays that drag culture is steeped in transmisogyny, but I ended up reading a lot from trans women of color who spoke of drag queens and drag queens of color in particular that forced me to wise up and see the drastic amount of shared history that we have, and that drag queens are absolutely our sisters. i got a problem with some of the more commercialized, and transmisogynistic scenes, like RPDR. But otherwise, I'd honestly, I'd love to get acquainted with the local drag scene of KC when I move there (if there is any).

I'll admit I adore RPDR. It inspired me to take up drag in the first place. But I'm more a fan of dragula. Same concept but different execution. I want to learn special d's makeup and things of that nature so I can stretch my looks. In the end drag is an art for me. It's about so much more than female impersonation.

Liking RPDR isn't a bad thing I suppose, as long as you don't tolerate the transmisogynistic things he's said. And like "It's about so much more than female impersonation."? Lol, who told you that's wrong? Provided obvsly it isn't as a joke or to creep into female spaces, men are totes allowed to be gender nonconforming.

That's one ugly idea trans women have pushed though, I have to admit. Basically telling drag queens you either have to identify as a woman or nonbinary and take HRT, or you're just a disgusting cis man making fun of us by "impersonating" a woman. And that's outrageous and uncalled for. As I said before, drag queens are our sisters, and deserve unhesitatingly our support and solidarity.

You'd be surprised. Many of the queens in my neck of the woods think the only way to be a good drag queen is to be as fish as possible.

So I think I may start delving into special FX makeup and try to work my way towards Dragula as opposed to RPDR. I like the more alternative feel to Dragula.

I seriously need The Vixen to go home.
