So, I decided to make this interest thread for the Pathfinder game, to gauge interest and the like.

Here's the plan I'll probably be having a session or two before we actually begin the campaign, the reason for this is to both allow all of us to get a feel for Pathfinder before we begin, so that this way people don't have to worry about screwing up all that much and so we can make sure that everything is working properly and no one has issues before we start.

I also plan for all (or at least most) actual campaign sessions to be turned into a story format and posted on the forum. This allows people to follow along, acts as a way to help people into the lore of the world, and the like. If we get a decent amount of people, so about 4 or 5 people total, then I'll begin to put together times. So if you are interested post here, Even if you don't have the time currently to commit to this, but want to join still, let me know anyway! I want an idea of the support for this idea!
Below is just some extra information.

First session or two

The first session or two will not be lead by me, instead it will be lead by a friend who is much more experienced with Pathfinder, and they would be better, in general, than I would be. It also is so that I can get some playing experience and learn a bit more about Pathfinder.

Sites/Programs we might use

• Roll20 (Website, built around this. Integrates with Hangouts and stuff)
• Discord (Website/Program, voice only and nothing explicitly for this...)
• Google Hangouts (Website, requires google account IIRC and a plugin. Integrates with Roll20 though)
• Skype (A program of 'last resort' of sorts.)

If anyone has any specific desires or requirements to be able to join in, then let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Alternative Systems

We can also try out DnD 5e and DnD 3.5e (which is very similar to Pathfinder).

An explanation of the systems

They [DnD 3.5e/5e and Pathfinder] are different systems used to facilitate the game itself, in a high level sense. You can think of them as similar games really, but in different game engines. DnD 3.5e is like Minecraft Java edition while DnD 5e is like Minecraft Windows [10] Edition and Pathfinder is like Minecraft Java with a large modpack (This is the easiest way I can think of describing it). They all are essentially the same game, but they all have differences in implementation and the like.

DnD 5e (Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition) is the latest edition.
DnD 3.5e (Dungeons and Dragons edition 3.5) is an older edition, but is still semi-popular.
Pathfinder is a 'fork' of DnD 3.5e with some changes to it in order to balance it out or fix issues and is also available online for free.(Under the Open Game License).

Personally I dislike play-by-post if only because of the fact that it not only takes too long, in my opinion, but also because I don't completely trust that someone wouldn't cheat...further Wintreath doesn't have a dice-rolling plugin atm, so that means trust would have to be given to the players...also it's harder for someone to come in and screw up the game...however I wouldn't be against doing it this way after a bit.

Although, personally, I prefer doing it with a voice chat of sorts...it's part of the feel to me I guess. Makes it feel more personal to me. :|

I've got a fair amount of experience with 3.5e as both a player and DM through to epic levels, and knowledge of Pathfinder till ~10th level or so as a player. (I am saying this in an attempt to demonstrate that I Know My Shit^TM)
How were you planning on running it, exactly? Roll20 or something?

@Doc this is somewhat addressed in the Sites/Programs we might use section. It's dependent upon what works really. I would prefer something like Roll20, but if it is necessary we can use things like Google Hangouts, Discord, or Skype.

At the time this is more of a general interest topic, although since I have at least three people from here that have expressed interest I guess we should start to work on the 'how' and 'when' a bit more

Heh, it's fine, an honest mistake.

So anyway, now that we have a few people willing to join us, why don't we get to setting up a time. I would like to, hopefully, shoot for this weekend if it's possible. If people could please let me know when they would be available for a bit of time, then do so. Hopefully we can arrive at a time that is best for everyone

Ah, see I work Saturdays. That's my problem. I'm usually available on evenings or Sundays, though. But not this Saturday evening as my wife and I have a friend staying over Saturday night.

If everyone else is free on Saturdays, I can sit out. Don't wanna dictate everyone's schedule.

Just expressing my lack of interest on a real-time RP session any time in the foreseeable future. Simply can't fit it into my schedule, unfortunately.

Yeah, non-real-time would work better for me too. Gets around scheduling issues.

I have no issue waiting around for people to become available for the real-time stuff. Things like Pathfinder, at least for me, is primarily a social activity. Things like play-by-post just cheapen it for me. You just don't really have the same interactions or experience as you do when it's real-time. At least to me.

Yeah, I completely understand, I'm just saying I won't be able to make the time.
