  • In the universe where the region comes together to achieve something and not only succeeds, but does so with the best standing in the region's history. Wintreath was the 51st largest region in the game, and to be 9th place means we've outdone many regions larger than us...not only that, but unlike most of those regions we didn't close our borders to achieve it. That means we've helped refuges, recruited to new people (to the tune of ~30 nations and counting), and helped others in their quests to help their own regions. It's unfortunate that there are people who don't want to be part of the team and even ruin try to ruin the hard work everyone has put in to achieve something, but I'm proud of what we accomplish here every year, and especially this year. The fact that we can come together and make such a great standing reconfirms to the world and to ourselves that Wintreath can do great things and punch above its weight when we come together and set our minds to it, even if in the end it is for a silly Halloween event.

And at the end of the day, it's still the funnest event NationStates puts together, and I and many others look forward to it.
You make it not fun by restricting what people can do. If I want to try and make a zombie empire then by god I should be allowed to do it. If banning people who want to stir up the pot a little and actually play the game because they missed out on the first night is your idea of fun, I seriously question your character. This is America god dammit, not some hippie dippie soviet canuckistan hellhole. Freedom over stability any day of the week!
As you said, this is just a game. Part of that game is border control measures, whether they be manual or built-in. This is Wintermoot's region, and much as you have the right to build a zombie empire, he has the right to temporarily banject whoever the hell he wants for Wintreath to achieve its self-set goals.

Yes it's Z day. Banning zombies is normal for many regions, and most curing regions take the next logical step and enact border control. What's stupid is getting butthurt over what a region decides to do on a site-wide event.

And I have a right to say those goals are fucking stupid and boring. I tell y'all, Z day in Ainur was always a blast. There was no central planning. It was completely unpredictable and you never knew who was going to join the horde. Players joined blocs of their own making. Made it more fun. If there's one thing Wintreath needs, it's givin a little leeway in this crap. Stop weaning us all on the regional government teat!

  • I wasn't aware you were so fond of the way things were done in Ainur. :P

If I recall, a number of nations fled Ainur to Wintreath during last year's z-day event...doesn't sound like it was a blast for them.

Weaklings, the whole lot of em. We had no need of such chaff anyhow. We need to give Wintreath some edge, dangit! Make it have some more bitterness and passive aggression like the real regions!

  • I'm of the opinion that both options are equally viable. Both are fun, in their own way, and a region is free to choose whichever path to take. I personally enjoy the level of coordination required on all levels to quickly cleanse a region of xenos zombies.

    There was central planning!
In the form of the zombie hordes I had invade while you all panicked :P
Even with that emoji I feel the need to clarify for any onlookers that Crush had like zero involvement in the government at that point in time and did not in fact centrally plan his betrayal. Besides, Charlie did it better.

  • I'm of the opinion that both options are equally viable. Both are fun, in their own way, and a region is free to choose whichever path to take. I personally enjoy the level of coordination required on all levels to quickly cleanse a region of xenos zombies.
And after the zombs are exterminated, you've got a full day of nothing but drab. You guys ruin the late game when you do this crap.
Just have puppets in multiple regions, and have the best of all worlds. Though this year I personally liked having Z-day finishing early; it removed an excuse for my procrastination. :P And we provide aid to people suffering in the late game so they can be cured.
