Greetings, nations and people of Wintreath,

We hoped against hope that we would not face another zombie crisis, but the news has reached us that in less than 24 hours we will be called to defend our region yet again from the undead hordes. We can expect it to be a tough fight...the zombie virus is more potent than ever, and without a doubt both the fans of the zombie masses and the enemies of our region will make an effort to see us fail and be cast into the darkness. However, I have faith in our region, and I have faith in you as a soldier in the cause of life...time and time again not only have we triumphed, but we've served as a refuge to those outside the region looking for a safe shelter. And so we will again.

To better coordinate our efforts, I have ordered the reactivation of the Frozen Vanguard, which will be led by myself, our delegate HannahB, and others as the situation and availability of regional officials call for it. We will be coordinating our efforts both on our IRC channel, which you can find a link for on the region page.

During this event, you may also make use of this base, Twilight's Sentinel, for both zombie apocalypse and general Halloween topics. Just because we're fighting for our lives doesn't mean we can't have some Halloween fun while we're at it, right?

But while all this is going on, what can you do as a resident or Citizen?

1) Research a cure to the zombie virus
2) Once available, launch cure missiles to other nations within the region until there are no zombies remaining
3) Report any nations spreading zombies to me for potential banjection, especially nations that come into the region for the specific purpose of spreading zombies.

I don't want any of my citizens killed by someone who fails to follow the instructions of Wintermoot. We cure everyone, we don't kill anyone.

Alcubierre has begun cure research. As with last year, my main focus will be on New Hyperion, but I will be alternating between various browser profiles to cover all my nations.

The Priests and Wisemen of Crushita have been leading cure effort research because we are truly blessed by the holy potato. Some nations revel in their science, but WE have made many many important breakthroughs and they have not!

But you're not winning, and you never will. Regions five times our size always have fucked us in these competitions and aren't going to stop. In what universe is 9th place considered to be worth all this effort?

In the universe where the region comes together to achieve something and not only succeeds, but does so with the best standing in the region's history. Wintreath was the 51st largest region in the game, and to be 9th place means we've outdone many regions larger than us...not only that, but unlike most of those regions we didn't close our borders to achieve it. That means we've helped refuges, recruited to new people (to the tune of ~30 nations and counting), and helped others in their quests to help their own regions. It's unfortunate that there are people who don't want to be part of the team and even ruin try to ruin the hard work everyone has put in to achieve something, but I'm proud of what we accomplish here every year, and especially this year. The fact that we can come together and make such a great standing reconfirms to the world and to ourselves that Wintreath can do great things and punch above its weight when we come together and set our minds to it, even if in the end it is for a silly Halloween event.

And at the end of the day, it's still the funnest event NationStates puts together, and I and many others look forward to it.

You make it not fun by restricting what people can do. If I want to try and make a zombie empire then by god I should be allowed to do it. If banning people who want to stir up the pot a little and actually play the game because they missed out on the first night is your idea of fun, I seriously question your character. This is America god dammit, not some hippie dippie soviet canuckistan hellhole. Freedom over stability any day of the week!
