My beard is too light of colour to grow it to the same length as Pengu's, and have it look good. And when it does become longer, it becomes curly and really scruffy. Consequently I'm always forced to shave.

EDIT: To demonstrate my point, here are two photos from a recent dinner at a Greek restaurant. I'm the one on the right. (These photos were taken as a jest by my sister, since she knows I absolutely hate it when she surprises me and then posts it facebook).

I actually like the beard...it makes you look so manly and attractive. <3

Haha, thanks, I guess. The only reason I really let it grow out is that I've grown tired of shaving since the age of 13.

My ex-girlfriends have rarely liked my beard.

I can sympathize...that's one of the main reasons I'm experimenting with growing out a beard. It's much easier to trim a beard every few days than to have to shave every morning.

You need to find better girlfriends...or you know, guys are always more appreciative of these things.

The benefits of a happy girlfriend far outweigh the annoyance of shaving. It's a price I pay willingly while in a relationship.

And as for guys being more appreciative... Well, guys don't have boobs.

There are plenty of guys with boobs out there...you just have to get them a little plump.

And that's the thing! You should be able to have it all...not just one or the other!

Any relationship is inevitably filled with small (or not so small) sacrifices. The annoyance of shaving is, all things considered, one of those I can definitely live with.

And some girls really like beards, so all is not lost.

But what if a girl wants you to shave all your body hair or something?

That's one thing where I would simply draw the line. Unless she happens to be VERY persuasive with a way to make it worth my while.
