To be honest I think it would be fun to have a Debate area where users could Debate various topics. I think it would be rather fun. So what are your thoughts.

I like this idea! Topics could change weekly, for instance, or stay for longer periods of time, and be chosen by the debaters themselves.

Would it be a sub-forum specific for debating or would it be located somewhere else in the boards?

A sub-forum. To be honest, I was thinking of doing a little something along the lines of having a topic that people can debate for a week, and then a new topic is randomly picked. Users can also propose debates themselves(this way people don't have to worry about waiting for a debate they feel comfortable debating. Also this way if, for example ACA(Obamacare) was a topic, then someone not in the US might want to wait a bit. Also if Obamacare was one of the weekly topics and people want to continue debating it, then they can in a new thread.

I do not mind it, but it'll have to be moderated regularly to make sure trolls or flames don't get out of hand. As long as people actually debate, instead of insulting people, I don't see an issue.

My advice is to prove the concept by having a few debate topics in the general discussion area. If it takes off, then we can do a forum.

I'm a little weary of the conflicts that can arise from debates in a community that's supposed to be cooperative above all, but if it's what people want and everyone can moderate themselves when necessary, I don't think it'd be a problem.

Can we keep it junior level? I play games to get away from srs bsns topics ranging outside of daily political or social issues. This is a community forum; not a lecture hall.

I'm game, but it's hard to keep it civil for long with some folks.
