That story goes back before the founding of the region, actually.
Right before I left Spiritus, I wanted to create a test region to test using a hosted forum instead of the Zetaboards solution that region uses. I felt that using a hosted forum would allow for more possibilities, but Tim, the founder of Spiritus, wasn't into the idea and the test region wasn't meant to prove that it was feasible. However, regions need names and I suck at names...Leutheria and I spent two hours trying to come up with a good name for the region. At some point, I decided that it would be easier to come up with a name if there was a theme, and I like winter I felt it was a good place to start.
From there, I came up with the 'Wint' portion...then I played around with the name Markarth from Skyrim to produce Wintrath, but that didn't sound just right, so...Wintreath!
Several weeks later when I left Spiritus and needed a place to store my nations while I thought of where to go next, this is the name I used, and then I was convinced to make this a serious region and here we are, winter theme and all.
