  • Ok, feeling better now. Or at least as well as I ever feel these days. No need to delay any further just because of my neurosis. Sorry about that everyone, I know the 48 hours and 24 hours pattern was supposed to be strict.

  • Rick Deckard had enough. No more. Another gunshot in the mansion made up his mind. "GEAR UP! WE'RE GOING IN, GET IN THERE NOW!" He yelled into his radio. The cops began to storm the mansion.

Ebbe "Norde" Lundin ran down the staircase towards the main hallway. He had to get out of this place before anything else happened He stopped to check his ammunition. Full clip. Good. He stopped to consider his options, if he.... what was that sound? He could barely think before the front door burst open and a SWAT team surrounded him, guns raised. "DROP THE WEAPON, DO IT NOW!" they screamed as Lundin stood, frozen. There was no way out of this. Lundin steeled himself as he made his choice. No way he was going to jail. He raised his handgun as he got a few shots off before he was riddled with bullets. He was dead before he hit the ground.

Neville Lloyd Adams stared at the Nordic gangster being killed. The Police had stormed the building! He had to get away now! He checked the handgun he had taken off Bill's body and ran down the corridor wildly, desperately trying to find a way out, any way out. So consumed was he that he failed to notice someone standing when he came around a corner backwards. Clarence Egelführer took a step forward as he said "Hey...." he never got a word out because Adams spun around in a panic, screaming as he shot Clarence in the face. Clarence's face went back and to the left as his body tumbled backward with a hole right in his forehead. Neville stared in shock at the sight. He threw down the gun and then threw up on the floor. A swarm of cops came running up behind him. He offered no resistance as he was taken into custody.

Leopold "Leo" Alvinczi had seen the cops storm the building and opted to hide in one of the upper floor studies. He waited in a corner as a random cop came into the room, unaware of Leo's presence. The cop was dressed in regular beat cop attire, a leather jacket with the Wintreath PD badge on the sleeve, a tie, a police peak cap and the duty belt. The cop never knew what hit him when Leo smashed his gun into the cops skull. He made sure the room was clear before he tried on the shit. It fit perfectly...

Jason "Jay" Jones and Jacinth Euclase “JEM” Morganite  were led by a couple of cops out of the mansion. They had come out, arms raised and where taken into custody by the police. It was still raining pretty heavily outside, so the cops let them stand in the doorway as they waited for Deckard to show up. Jason turned to JEM, saying "It's over. It's finally over. The Moot's are done. We did it." He could barely believe his own words. JEM just stared into the distance, shocked. She was sure this was when she died. What was she going to do now? Jason smiled as he overheard the two cops behind him talking. "Quite the massacre in there, huh, Bateson? Ten people in custody or dead. Its like a video game of some kind." The other nodded as he said "Yeah, I hear you, Morgan..." Ten people. Ten people? Ten people.....

Jason was still pondering this when a cop calmly walked past them, heading out. Jason turned away before a wave of familiarity struck him. Was that? It couldn't be.... he took a few steps toward the figure before he called out. "Leo!" The man stopped, looked down, then turned around, gun raised, firing wildly. Both the cops, Morgan and Bateson, went down as they were hit by the barrage. JEM also took one to the shoulder and hit the floor screaming. Jason was miraculously unhurt by the wave of bullets. Leo turned and ran into the rain. Jason stood, stunned, before he went to check on the wounded. JEM was fine and so where the cops. Leo had been firing all over the place, most of his bullets and hit the wall instead of people's faces. Jason grabbed one of the cop's service weapons and chased Leo out into the rain...

In the rain, darkness and chaos Leo had managed to disappear before anyone else caught wind of him. He tossed aside the peak cap as he continued to run away from the mansion. Jason! Jason was the fucking snitch! He'd taken Jason in and this was how he repaid him? His thoughts were broken by gunshots and bullets whizzing by him. He turned and saw Jason aiming another shot. Leo ducked, turned and fired a couple of time before he continued to run. Up ahead there was some sort of power sub station. It was the only cover he was going to get. He continued till he reached it...

Jason opened the cylinder. 4 shots left. Maybe he should have grabbed the cop's speedloader as well. To late now anyway. He followed Leo into the substation....

Leo leaned against the wall, catching his breath when the lights came on. The cops must have turned the power back on. This was going to make things harder...

Jason swept the area, revolver at the ready. Leo had to be here somewhere. There were to many places. He suddenly felt very certain he would die. Maybe he was at the right....

Leo slowly poked just the tip of his head out from cover. Jason was sweeping the area. He turned to the right, away from Leo, and scanned that area. This was his chance! Leo stepped out from cover, raising his gun....

Jason saw a shadow in his peripheral vision for just a second. Just a second. It was enough. He spun around, gun in one hand and fired. He missed Leo but it caused him to miss as well as he fired wide. Jason was ready thin time. He emptied his revolver, hitting Leo three times right in the chest. Leo's tie went flying as bullet holes erupted in his chest. He stumbled backwards, dropping the gun as he slumped against the wall. His breath was labored as he wheezed, his lungs filling with blood. Jason slowly walked over to Leo, in a daze. Leo laughed as he realized his time was almost up. "At...at least.... you... got out..." he gasped. He held out his hand. Jason took it as Leo continued. "But.... I'm... I'm not going..... to jail...." he laughed some more. "It... it looks... a lot worse.... than it seems..." He lost expression as he breathed his last breath. Jason just stood there, holding his hand as the rain came pouring down....

Rick Deckard looked at Jason as he finished his story. He looked tired. Shocked. Sad. But somehow... glad. Like a weight had been taken off his shoulders. "I got in touch with Agent Dale Cooper's supervisor, Gordon Cole. He confirmed your story. The FBI wanted me to tell you that you don't need to worry about any charges. You'll walk free. Also, JEM's ok. She'll pull through just fine. You're out, Jones." He got up from his chair. "You're free." Jason smiled as Deckard said that. For once in his life, he agreed.

The Informants have won the game! They chose to eliminate Aragonn, who went by Neville Lloyd Adams in this game, making him the Lookout.

xXTheHydraXx, who went by Leopold "Leo" Alvinczi which made him a Wiseguy, was the last surviving Wiseguy and killed in the finale.

Aethelia, who went by as Jason "Jay" Jones, and LordBelmont who was Jacinth Euclase “JEM” Morganite, where the Informants in this game and both survived to the end of the game.

Gerrick, who went as Clarence Egelführer, was the Hostage. He made a choice in the final night that resulted in his Death.

I hope everyone has enjoyed Werewolf VIII: Mafia - Welcome To This Thing Of Ours! We've had a great game and I'm glad to have been given this opportunity! I hope you all enjoyed!

    The Hostage's Choices

    Night 1:
Damn, this was screwed up! How had you gotten mixed up in this? Now two people were dead right in front of you. You felt sick, running into a corner to throw up. After your...business, you turn around to notice that no one is watching you anymore and that the first dead guy, the one they called North or something, was slumped in the corner unattended. You run up to North's body and start searching it. No phone or anything like that, only his revolver. You swing the cylinder open. Empty. But no one else knows that.....

A woman leans in behind you and says "Clarence?" You jump and manage to stiff the revolver in your pocket before she can see it. She continues "I'm not going to let anything happen to you, trust me ok? Just keep your head down and you will be fine." You consider giving her the revolver. You look around, just in case. The only other person here is that leader, the one they called don or something. You could also give it to him....

You consider your choices: Keep the revolver for yourself, give it to the woman or give it to the don?

Gerrick chose to keep the revolver, which gave him protection from one attack. If he had chosen the woman, the Informants would have received protection from one attack. If he had chosen the Don, the Don would have received protection for one attack.

    Night 2:
You keep running down the hallway, tossing aside North's empty revolver as you do. You know that you need to get out. There's a slightly open door to the left and you jump through it,  quietly slamming it behind you. You catch your breath while you look around.

There's a file on the table, open and left there. It has the face of one of those mobsters, along with a list of aliases. You push aside the file and see another beneath it, this one has the face of the woman who spoke to you earlier. You read through the facts and it becomes clear that it implicates the woman as an informant and the guy as a loyal goomba.

You hear footsteps behind you, along with a voice."North kept his files in his office, I think..." the voice says. You consider what to do. You can change the pictures, implicate the mobster instead. You can take the file away as well or you can do nothing.

What do you do? Change the pictures, leave the files or take it away?

He chose to do nothing, which gave no bonuses to either side. If he had changed the photos, the lookout and the hacker would have received incorrect information the next time they used their powers. If he had chosen to leave it, a random wiseguy would have received a clue to the identity of an Informant.

    Night 3:
You sit inside the closet waiting as the man searches the room. Then you hear him leave before three gunshots ring out. You open the door and leave the room to find a body on the floor. Normally you would feel queasy but today has absolutely desensitized you. You walk up to the body. Its that Chinese fellow! You look through his pockets and find his phone. His list of hacks! You read through it. Behind you, footsteps are getting louder. You need to do something now.

Do you smash the phone, keep it or leave it there?

He chose to keep the phone, which provided one wiseguy (Hydra) with all of the Hacker's scans. If he had left the phone, the Informants would have received the hacker's scans. If he had smashed it, no one would have received a bonus.

    Night 4:
You pick up the phone. Before you can even think someone comes running, grabs the phone from your hand and yells at you to leave. You hightail it out of there.

As you run down the corridor, you hear footsteps behind you, following your pace. You panic and sprint down the corridor. You turn and face a dead end. The footsteps grow louder behind you. There is a window you can climb out of. There's a chair you could use as a weapon. Or you could confront whoever it is and hope for the best.

He chose to confront whoever it was which resulted in his death. If he had chosen to use the chair, the Lookout would have been incapacitated and unable to vote in the next round. If he had chosen the window, the Informants would have been unable to use their abilities in the night.

    The Don's choices

    Night 1:
Don has decided to do nothing! :P

    Night 2-4:
    Dead

    The Hacker's choices
    Night 1 and 2:
    No choice

    Night 3:
    I'd like to investigate Argonn

You look through his phone records.... bank statements, spreadsheets, signs of a workaholic.... he must be Neville Loyd Adams, the lookout.

    The Informant's Choices

    Night 1:
The informants would like to have BraveSirRobin eliminated.

    Night 2:
hey north me and aethelia are eliminating dekunut this round thanks.

    Night 3:
Hey north i'm gonna go with taking out taulover this round

    Night 4:
hey north im gonna take out aragonn this round :P

    The Host's thoughts
Sorry about not ending phases more punctually. I tried but shift work is tough. I've seen Orchard Station enough time if I ever go there again I'm going to go berserk  :P

Also, the theme was Mafia. MAFIA. Some of you seemed not to get the memo. Do you know how hard it was to fit some of your characters into a MAFIA themed game? Half the reason I had a hostage role was because I like the Player role in Werewolf: Until Dawn, the other half was because I couldn't find another reason for Clarence to be there (Gee thanks Robin)  :P

  • Goddamn, I was so close to surviving! I thought that the guy running towards me might have been an Informant or a Wiseguy who'd let me live if I didn't attack him. Also, thought the window was a trick where the fall would be too high and then I'd die.

All in all, nicely written. It was a fun game, especially since I didn't really have to worry about getting lynched.

Well played, Aethelia and LordBelmont. The "playing incredibly innocent" card apparently worked for both of you :P

  • Damn... GG wolves. Why'd I have to get shot!?  :'(

Aethelia's craftiness led me to suspect her at first, but towards the middle she really nailed that innocentness (if that is even a word) :P . I was conflicted as to whether or not I should have revealed that I was given the power of seeing the hacker's scans, since it was only Aragonn that was scanned... if only Lancaster had scanned one of the wolves I could've tried to convince Gerrick...  :)

    Again, well played wolves!

@North Thanks for hosting this! It was fun and beautifully written (and I survived till the end which is a bonus)! :D

  • Ah that was scary. From the start, I saw all the roles and thought, huh, there's no way the informants are going to win, excellent. Figured it might be because the werewolf side won the last few games here and you all were trying to fix that trend. Then I looked at my role pm and was arghurghurhhurghagurgh nooooooooooooooooo. And then things actually got started and I recognized one of things that tends to favor the werewolf side immensely in these games, inactivity. Probably wouldn't have won without it, can't really claim much credit for myself here. Especially from the Hacker, though through sheer luck it appears his actually random vote did make Lord Belmont look really guilty, as honestly I didn't know Charlie Lancaster was the Hacker when I tried to turn things against him, I just thought it would be less suspicious to pick someone other than who Lord Belmont voted for, hoping someone else would agree with my post instead. Started to panic a bit after that that we might lose anyway after the following two rounds... at the time I couldn't state who I was really worried about running the game for, but I was worried I might lose this for both of us, it's so much pressure being on the werewolf-role side, I usually just count on the low odds of being made one when joining, or better, getting a neutral role where I can only mess things up for myself and don't have to feel guilty for losing it for the team I'm on.

What else... that time limit was throwing me off a lot, probably shouldn't have counted on it. I did my last post in the last Day phase expecting that I was doing the deciding vote, since I saw North online, and it was near the 48 hour mark. Also, that mistake with listing 24 hours for the second day was kinda scary, it looked like I was about to be voted out from Aragonn's 'right for the wrong reason' vote against me, I wouldn't have said everything I said back then if I knew it would be 48 hours. Oh well, worked out okay I guess.

Thank you for posting everything about the Hostage role. I would have asked about it anyway if you didn't. At first I didn't like the idea of a role where it's capabilities are not known from the start, but it's pretty obvious now why it needed to be that way, and it actually looks like an interesting role. Too bad Gerrick didn't quite make it, I was okay with a dual-win since he voted with us in the final day phase.

The comment about the theme... you meant me right? I am sorry about that. I kinda rushed to post in time since I saw the invite back on the forum I'm from, the size of the forum was somewhat overwhelming at first and I didn't read everything that I should have before joining. I'm not really an expert on real mafias, so I probably couldn't have done much better anyway if I knew, but I would have done something at least slightly more fitting. For all the books I've read, I'm not very good at coming up with original characters, they all just end up being me with next to no differences. I would have changed it though if you said something, sorry about it not fitting, I didn't notice the problem until the game began and I saw all the other roles side by side like that that there was a theme and then it was too late. I didn't even expect it would be important, this is the most story I've ever seen in a werewolf type game. Very impressive really. I'm so used to just seeing an excuse plot, where roles don't have actual names, so I didn't think it would matter much. Well... won't happen again, I will try to get one of the guys from the Hogwarts region to replace me here to represent. Someone lack panicky who can do this game better.

Honestly, your character was not so hard. Robin, on the other hand....

Well that was quite fun i had a blast and i almost can't believe that we won as werewolves for our first game. gg everyone this was awesome and i can't wait for the next one. Aethelia you did quite well in fact you did more than me. :P anyhoo this was fun and thank you north for hosting this.

    • To sit back hoping that someday, some way, someone will make things right is to go on feeding the crocodile, hoping he will eat you last - but eat you he will.

  • Because he had three opportunities to scan before being voted out, abstained from the first two due to either a huge amount of confidence, some secret strategy I am unable to deduce, or just from missing the deadline, and then picked you to thwart my prepared backup plan to make you suspicious with me if I were the first informant caught and needed to get everyone to vote you out next to buy a turn for Lord Belmont, which is why I put in a deciding vote to 'save' you in Day 2, though the situation changed so that it was unnecessary/unviable to continue with that.
