In the continuous event, a series of challenges would replace the singular challenge and participation based scoring would replace voting. Participants would earn scores for each challenge they complete and leader would be determined by overall score.

To vary the competitiveness, deadlines for individual challenges or groups of challenges could be introduced, but I believe that keeping the event as open as possible would yield the best attendance.

With this softer approach, we could introduce programming as a continuous hobby in the region. Challenges with varying difficulty would make it easy for beginners to participate, and still keep it interesting for our more skilled programmers as well.

Depending on the implementation, participants could complete challenges even a year after it was introduced, taking all schedule issues completely out of the table.
