Here is the thing though, not allowing the victim to choose this is essentially speaking for and over the victim in my opinion. If we do not add this then in the future someone will not be able to have a trial and allow a punishment that fits the crime to be there. Instead, unless the person is a Riksrad or Royal Family member, the person may get a comparatively light punishment for a serious crime. Adding it to our laws now allows full justice to be served should a victim decide to go the court route

I'm sorry, your implication seems pretty clear to me.

I seemed to have missed this. Go check the code of criminal laws Major Crimes (Not High Crimes). Then check the High Crimes version.

Maybe you just don't want to hear the truth. The truth of the matter is we can not say a victim will never want to bring it to the courts and in your situtatiin the case couldn't be filed anyone because the Code of Criminal laws prevents applying any section of it to an action committed before that section was in effect.

I also feel like you are outright ignoring what I am saying as well. I am not advocating the disruption of the precedent what I am advocating for is the prevention of a miscarriage of justice and not forcing victims to have to go through administration should they choose not too. Wintermoot would still have full authority to do as he did even with this in law, the only difference is that it would allow future victims to get justice in the courts should the choose.

As I said, if a future victim of sexual harassment decides that they're okay enough to use sensitive logs for a trial and give their permission, then by all means reintroduce this with their blessing and ours.

And again, it doesn't matter.  Unless we had a Ministry dedicated specifically to issues such as this, there's no better alternative, and again, courts should never be an option unless the victim is willingly coming forward and giving permission to use their logs for a trial.

But, again, and I'll say it once more just so you can hear it, and I'll put this in big bold letters as well:

Until such an event occurs, this should be left alone.

That means, until we have a case to where someone will want to step forward, we should LET IT GO and deal with it when that time comes.

Then I hope you are happy with someone that is not a riksarad member or royal family member decides to have a trial they would have to file Sexual Harassment under a Major Crime and thus not get justice. I hope you are happy discouraging people from actually wanting to go through the damn courts because they can not get justice there because you decided they shouldn't have that option because you decided you knew better than them and to have spoken for them.

And in the future it would be too late. If you want to stick your head in the sand and ignore the law, then so be it. But it will have dire consequences.

The topic is open again, but everyone needs to remember that the situation that spawned this has been dealt with, and any future situations will be as well. Otherwise, let's remember that this is a game and that we're friends, and there's no reason for things to get so heated, ok?

I'll just point out that a RECOMMENDATION is open to the judges when delivering their verdict, so if, for whatever reason, someone wishes to go the trial route instead of doing the much simpler, faster and better route of going to the admin, then no judge in his right mind would give a sexual harasser a "slap on his wrist." There are downsides to relying on that RECOMMENDATION verdict, as it wouldn't get implemented immediately, but really, if efficiency was the concern, no one would use the courts anyway.

So I really do think this is rather pointless and should be left up to the admin alone, with a simple law proclaiming sexual harassment to be a high crime just as a show of support by the Storting.

That's all I'm going to say on the subject again, and I'm not returning to it unless mentioned, which I then may choose to answer or not at my discretion.

Since I have yet to comment, I'm just going to briefly offer my thoughts. I agree with Josh in that this issue transcends our RP/IC courts and government, so much so that I think an act criminalizing harassment by the Storting is unnecessary and superfluous. Even if it is primarily symbolic, it's mere existence on our books implies that we think our court system is a legitimate avenue for dealing with these types of situations, but we all know it isn't. I trust our administrator to have good judgment and take necessary action when evidence of an incident arises.

However, I would like to see some sort of guidance for members  on how or where to report instances of harassment (of any kind) or other potentially disruptive behaviors. This kind of goes back to the fact that Wintreath, unlike 99% of other online communities, has no "forum rules," "mod team," or rules sticky (save for a few instances, I think). Perhaps this is something mentors should be spreading (what the "report" button does and what it's for)?  I dunno. I just want to make sure we have ways of detecting serious rules violations other than luck, chance, and accident.
