Nice, short and sweet thread with discussions of possible online regional games that we could do.

I went on once, just looked around though.

For some reason threads like this have always failed in the past. For one, we are so international that schedules are difficult. Relatively mature community also means that people are busy anyway. :/

We had pretty great success with Hearthstone for a while, but huge gaps in skill level make that game prretty unappealing for casual matches.

Then there's Civ, our current rather officional regional favourite game.

I hope we can find more games to play with each other. It's up to someone (you) taking an active role in this community building exersice.

@tatte I would help build the community with more activities/games, but the problem with the games part is that there aren't many online games for me to suggest, that's why I'm asking the rest of Wintreath.

I think the big problem with Hearthstone was the regions...some of us had our decks in NA and some in Europe, and we couldn't really play together. Plus we had some newer people join that and not stick around. I personally liked it though and wish we could find a way around that problem =/

tatte is right...it's difficult to get games going here, but as someone who has created a successful game event it's not impossible...just takes patience and time. Pick a game that a lot of people have, try to get a good day and time, and keep at it even if nobody's around one week...a lot of people that try quit as soon as nobody is around once.

As for games...Crusader Kings II and Europa Universalis 4 get mentioned a lot here, if you're into grand strategy. If not, maybe something like Starcraft or something...

Another idea for regional games, is having games that don't last too long. I know I probably mention this game a lot, but games like Town of Salem have shorter, maybe 10 minute rounds, and people won't usually have to leave halfway.

I just bought Mount and Blade: Warband (the entire series is $7.99 for the winter sale). Are there many people here who play it?

if anyone here actually likes Magic: The Gathering and wants to play online then I found GCCG (Generic Collectible Card Game) which allows you to play MtG. GCCG is rather nice, although you do have to actually buy the cards you want and you do have to know what you are doing to play...

(It would be nice to have a client that enforces MtG stuff just for Wintreath.....)

Seems interesting. It's like Werewolf or other game of the genre, right?
If other people are interested you can count me in whenever I'm free!

@VidiLune I would relate Town of Salem to the "real life game" Mafia, but with a lot more roles and teams. But also to host a game with specific people, you would all need to be friends in the game, so we probably would need to share usernames, just to friend eachother.

You've seen our Werewolf games, right? @Laurentus was going to host the next one, but I suppose his RP duties prevented him from doing so. (And forum-based Werewolf has day-long turns, which suits me better.)

Yeah, that little project of mine has been put on hold for the time being. Someone with a sense of humour, organisational skills and creativity is more than welcome to hold the next one, if they so wish.
