I'll join once I think up a character~

While at work today, I'll read up on those abilities while on my break. Sorry for being so slow.

I'll join I'm done building my factbook for From the Ashes RP and think of a character. Sorry for the delay.

here we go:

Biography:
Velvet Raskelton wasn't born into royalty or nobility or anything- nah. She's just your average human being. Her father is a very wealthy merchant who travels constantly, and she only gets to see him once every year or so. Velvet's mother was murdered, so she was raised by her grandmother on a farm. Yes, a farm. She attended a normal school, had normal friends, you know...she pretty much had a normal life.

But then Velvet discovered she could use magic. It was during a day at school, where she was teasing a new kid, and Velvet had unknowingly cast a small but...rather scary hallucination upon him. After being labeled a 'monster' by her classmates, Velvet went home that day in disappointment and told her grandmother what had happened. But her grandmother was delighted, and praised her greatly. Happy with this, Velvet hit the books, and has studied magic ever since.

Wanting to hone her skills and gain more knowledge, Velvet enrolled into the Maelstrom Academy. Her usually wild and rebellious attitude was toned down after she learned her grandmother had passed away a few days after she left to join the academy. Her grandmother's death pushed Velvet even harder to become the best wizard this school has ever seen.

Dislikes: authority figures, large egos, waking up early in the morning

In what era/tech level is this rp supposed to take place? You said the headmaster was wearing Victorian clothes, so Victorian era?

Good question actually. I've been assuming it was similar to Harry Potter, where the school is old-fashioned, but it plays out in modern times,

This roleplay takes place in the modern era, the headmaster just enjoys Victorian clothing.

@Sapphiron Can I run an ability by you before I try to make a character out of it? I was thinking it to be "Ethereal Projection". I made it by drawing from Second Sight ("Projection" ability) and Bioshock 2 ("Scout" and "Decoy" plasmids), but they can also be found on the wiki you posted. Basically my character will be able to project an ethereal (non-corporeal) form, which he can use in two ways. He can only do one of these at a time, and they're somewhat unstable at the time of his admittance into the Academy. I plan on making him learn to improve it throughout the rp.

The first way: he inhabits the ethereal projection, leaving his body behind helpless, and (being ethereal) he is invisible and can move through walls but cannot interact with any objects. As of now, he can only go roughly 150 feet (~half a football field) or 15 minutes before starting to wake up, and it takes a bit of energy out of him after he returns to his body if he reaches these limits.

The second way: he projects the ethereal form (which looks like a real person but is like a hologram) to a stationary position, which is meant to act as a decoy. As of now, it's noticeable that it's fake if you're within like a few feet but is pretty effortless to keep it up for less than 15 minutes (max: an hour).

Again, the plan would be for him to improve these with experience. Let me know if this works or is too OP or anything.
