I just read this long but excellent Atlantic article about Obama. Thought some of you guys might like reading it as well.

When you open yourself up to someone, by the very nature you make yourself vulnerable...vulnerable to being upset and hurt, and when some people have been upset and hurt by being betrayed or attacked they become so defensive and closed-off that they can't open up and connect with people.

I think that was likely Hillary Clinton's downfall...she was attacked and slandered so much over twenty years that she became too defensive and closed-off to open up to people, resulting in becoming out of touch and going out of her way to hide and protect herself from potential attack...like the private email server that was meant to get around government transparency laws, for example.

However unsettling being vulnerable is, or how bad being hurt is...I would never want to become the alternative...like that.

Well I just wrote some of the densest and most unreadable code in Python 3 I ever have written...

    return [a if (x%5==0) and (x%7==0) else a[:4] if (x%5==0) else a[4:] if (x%7==0) else str(x) for x in list(range(n+1))[1:]]If you are wondering what it does it's a variation of the Fizzbuzz 'challenge', except instead of multiples of 3 and 5 it's multiples of 5 and 7...with Fizzbuzz (and it's components) being replaced with CodeFight (and split as: Code and Fight for multiples of 5 and 7 respectively). This is as short as I can get it right now with Python 3, in Python 2 it would look something like:

that brings it down to 127 from 133 characters as my python3 version has it. The shortest anyone seems to have gotten it is 67 characters in Python 2. The shortest Python 3 anyone has gotten is 72 characters somehow.

Also as I was writing this I got it down to 129 characters using the following:

note that there is no reason to have the output "CodeFight" as a separate variable, except for decreasing readability. (It's 129 with, or without, using the variable a). Note that the thing I am doing this for doesn't count newline characters or spaces.

I can make it more obtuse by doing the following

In any case I completed the challenge anyway, I'm just working on making it as obtuse and small as possible...

Finally. Done. With. Finals. (Which also concludes the first semester of my sophomore year. I can hardly believe it.)

Obama was the best President since Clinton.

Clinton was a corporate shill that deregulated telecommunications and created the massive media conglomerates we know today. Obama supported the fucking Muslim Brotherhood. What kind of fuckup would support the Muslim Brotherhood? We should be actively supressing and destroying politicized Islam all over the world, not supporting it! Thankfully we have been spared at least four years of future Democrap rule.

You're right, how dare he support the Democratically elected government of Egypt, America does not approve so fuck the people of Egypt and fuck the Democratic process, let's go in there and topple a government! Cause it's worked so well everytime America has meddled in other countries politics, just look at Iran.

Oh my God, yes.

So I have a feeling I'm about to be promoted to a supervisor at work.  One of my Asst. Managers asked if it was something I was interested in, and another who runs the front end asked today if I had my career preferences set for it...which is normally a big indicator that I'll get it.  I even took their Leadership Assessment which is required to even be considered, and passed it.  So I'll most likely be starting the new year as a supervisor...which also means another pay raise.

Ah man, I remember when I got moved up to supervisor at my old work the extra pay was really handy but I ended up hating that job more than anything

It was retail in a supermarket, so when they said supervisor they meant doing all the tasks I already did, as well as keeping inventory and reviewing my colleagues it really stressed me out, and I ended up quitting soon after...

I don't mean to be a downer though Pengu I doubt every supervisor position is like that and I guess it depends a lot on the people around you and the organisation I hope you do get the promotion and I hope it all goes well! Just reminded me of my old experience and I thought I'd share.

Eh, if you can survive and thrive in one position at Wal-Mart, I'm sure you can survive anything there...I hope that you get it!
