I just finished my HTML5 course, and I passed with a 70%...the bare minimum. Missing the assignment deadline during the second week really hut me, but overall it was exactly the stuff that I wanted to learn, and I hope to find time to play around with it all.

Eventually they plan to roll out a part 2 of the course that will cover more advanced topics, too...

Wintermoot never misses a deadline though!  That's pretty big to have your grade weighted heavily

There's only five weeks of exercises and the final, so each week counted for 15% of the grade, and then considering I did poorly the first week and got high 80s and low 90s for the other courses and the final...yeah. It's not a big deal though, it's just an honourary certificate...not like it's going on my transcripts.

Now that I've learned some new skills, I've felt like developing them and putting them to use, and I figured what better way than to look back at an old project? Before I got into NationStates, I worked with a small multiplayer RPG project, eventually becoming owner of a fork of it. I let all the stuff for it sit on my computer for years, not only because I was busy, but because the software and code were a decade (now closer to 15 years) old and I never felt like becoming a C/C++ expert to try to update it.

But with modern technology...

This page accepts an old binary map file from that project and based on its byte location in the file extracts all the relevant values and then uses those values to draw the map on the page using one version of the game tileset...recreating the map without using the old client/server technology. If you could see a live version, you would be able to tell that the lake is actually animated kinda. It was fun to work on, and who knows where it might end up?

You know I've lived my life as kind of a party person for a while now and it's what I like doing but I think I finally had my most iconic night... The traditional experience for teens with a rich friend... Woke up this morning in a completely trashed hotel room surrounded by a surprising amount of people.

So, we're officially in the summer lull. We're going to have to be very vigilant about keeping things going as much as we can and not letting activity slipped. We all worked hard to build the region up over the winter and spring, and I'd hate to lose most of it in the summer. =/
