  • I'm the same way. Despite reading articles and whatnot telling me "eight hours is hella rad; less is hella bad; more will make your body hella mad", I still feel as though eight hours is an excessive amount of time to sleep.

    But, I mean, my sleep schedule is for crap anyways. ლ,ᔑ•ﺪ͟͠•ᔐ.ლ

    Restless leg syndrome, sleep apnea, acute insomnia, night terrors...to name a few.

    I have trouble with night terrors, which results in insomnia. I signed up for a sleep study and was told "take some Melatonin; that'll help you lots~". It helps on some days, not so much on others, and doesn't mess with my other medication. It's available wherever you can get vitamins, but I would recommend talking with a doctor before taking it, just in case.

    Advice you didn't really ask for, but I figured it'd help out a bit, if you haven't already given it a go. c:

  • I sleep 10 to 12 hours a day. I need my beauty sleep.

    There was one day where I got up to 18. It was glorious.

    I love sleeping, it's the perfect excuse not to do anything. I often have trouble falling asleep because my mind works on overdrive 24/7 and I can't stop thinking, but I find a puff or 5 of some really dank indica will knock me out pretty fast.

    They put me through a sleep study. Was an...interesting...experience. I've taken melatonin before. I take it from time to time. I just take too much damn medication/supplements. I try to cut where I can. I appreciate the consideration though <3 ;3

    That is usually my nightly regiment for falling asleep. I am sadly, very very low right now.

  • I guess I'm one of the few who have no problems getting to sleep...in fact it's often the opposite problem. By the time I get home from work, I feel exhausted and could take a nap and then sleep a regular eight hours. I often don't except on the weekends, but...also, having to go in early during the summer is still screwing me up because even on the weekends I'll still get up early and then feel tired early as well.

    I really need a vacation to sort out my system, but that's still two months away. ;-;

  • What causes your sleep apnea, Jonesy?

    My body is apparently just really lazy about breathing whenever I am not actively forcing it to do so.
    It's a mild case, that could develop more seriously as I age. I <3 my CPAP. Though I don't wear it because it's annoying. I do feel like Darth Vader when I sleep with it on though. ;3

    It has been mentioned that if I lost some weight it is possible it would be alleviated a bit.
    Although that is the default answer I have received from numerous physicians throughout my life.
    It's the physical equivalent of having a diagnosed anxiety disorder. No doctor will take your symptoms seriously if you tell them you have Generalized Anxiety Disorder. It's the same as if you're a bigger guy complaining about back pain. Even though my 90lb mother has back pain and it's a genetic issue...

  • Generally sleep apnea is associated with larger people...as I understand it, people with more weight and less muscle tone are at risk of having the soft tissue in their throat close up during sleep, which causes the airway to collapse and breathing to stop until the body wakes you up to get you breathing. In rarer cases the cause is that the brain fails the signal the muscles to breathe during sleep. For mild cases of sleep apnea caused by weight, not sleeping on your back may help...otherwise standard treatment is the CPAP, as Jone already has. :P

    Speaking of sleep, I just woke up from a nap, so my sleep schedule tonight will be all fucked up ;-;
