The ANC branch nominations have concluded, and Ramaphosa won by a significant margin. This means everything for our country. Even if he is unable to rid the ANC of bad apples while still maintaining party unity, if the corrupt portion breaks off and forms their own party, then it weakens the ANC, which then becomes a good thing for the 2019 general elections, where the DA may finally score a victory. How is this good for Ramaphosa, you ask? It's not. It is good for the country, though.
Now we just need to see if the branch delegates remain faithful to their branches' decisions when the presidential election happens in ten days' time.
