Well, we didn't allow Daoine Pacaiste to do that, and his whole deal is druid/gods-y. And no, I don't believe we have since we're still in the Wintreath-controlled systems, right?

Excactly as I thought.  So @RedRevenant/Sci should modify it a bit to make it not from aliens and a bit less OP?  @taulover ? 

Yeah, I think he'll need to tone it down and modify the backstory to fit this RP better.

Character Name: Simon Acosta

Age: 19

Bio: Simon hails from an advanced yet crime ridden independent frontier planet, several light years away from his species' home planet of Wintreath. Since they were mostly poor workers, his family migrated from site to site for employment, usually serving as engineers for less than savory characters and their ships. During this time, Simon cultivated superb skills in constructing and repairing technology, as well as a cynical yet oddly cheerful worldview. Unfortunately, he had a falling out with a gang of pirates he used to work for that occurred when a fusion generator he had repaired exploded during a raid as a result of sabotage. While looking for opportunities to get as far from the "civilized" part of the universe as possible, he came across an application form for the USS Wintreath, and the rest is history.

Role: Engineer/Mechanic

Special: a product of his rough childhood and equally rough present, Simon has exceptional skill at hand to hand combat, as well as being a first-rate mechanic.

Could someone refresh my memory? I seem to recall something about us not really having settled on other planets yet in this RP. FTL only became a thing a few weeks ago in this time-line, if I recall correctly.

Yes, this is correct. IIRC Zemas made it so that the most nearby star systems were settled without FTL, but that's about it.
