  • Also, I think I should clarify my idea. I don't want to turn the Overhusen into an elected body, I want to add 1 member who is elected and have the rest still appointed by the monarch as it is now.

  • Honestly I fail to see any evidence that says that restricting people would actually get people involved. If anything it does give the rise of a possibly dangerous (legally that is) scenario where NO ONE runs for Underhusen because everyone that actually wants too run is barred from doing so. Ultimately I fail to see how your idea would get anyone involved in the long run.

Also North, the OH idea is a horrible one. The OH's purpose is two-fold:
    1) Act as a body to keep the UH in check
    2) Act to represent the monarch.

Adding an elected member defeats the purpose of the OH. The OH is meant to be ALL APPOINTED. That's why the UH is elected. It was designed to create a balance between elected and appointed systems. A balance between Republicanism and Monarchy.
    See you later space cowboy.

I understand your concern as to the term limits, and I would like to highlight one part of it that I mentioned:

" After 1 term, they may run again with the same limits. However, an exception would be made if not enough candidates are declared by the end of nominations to fill the UH."

If not enough candidates stand, the restriction would be rescinded and those that are term-limited can run. As to the OH idea, I know it is a bit out there but citizen involvement in the government is not terribly high from what I have seen. Admittedly, I haven't been here as long as most but still. It, as I have said however, is just an idea that even I would admit would be unlikely to ever pass in the OH. I think that the best way to get people interested in the government is to encourage people to run for office. The best way to do that is to increase the offices that people can run for and to make sure that there is a reasonable amount of turnover. I would also like to hear the thoughts and opinions of everyone first, especially of I am elected (here's hoping :].

  • Your idea puts the cart in front of the horse, though. We can have up to seven members in the UH, so it would be better to try and get involvement up through other means and increase the number of seats, which would be more effective at getting people involved.

For the record, I agree with you on term limits. We don't want Skrifa becoming burnt out and negligent.

I appreciate your opinion. Honestly, this is what I'm looking to bring into the UH and the government, an honest and frank exchange of ideas to reach a common goal. I realize that no one will agree with anyone on every single issue so I am glad to see this kind of discussion. And I'm glad you agree with me on term limits :]

  • To all the candidates, good luck and godspeed! We have all run fine campaigns and no matter what happens on election day I feel confident that everyone who's running would make excellent Skrifa! Thank you and have a pleasant day :]
