  • I don't think it's too early to start this discussion. There's a few Democratic candidates and a billion Republican candidates, so who would you personally support for President at the moment and why?

  • Honestly, I haven't been paying too much attention to know all of the candidates except for the widely talked about Trumpmeister...who I wouldn't support with even a 2-foot pole.

  • The only logical choice for the morally-conscious, forward-thinking American is Bernie Sanders.  There isn't a half-decent candidate on the Republican field that won't a) cut welfare b) waste time fighting the ACA c) make war, or d) waste time with Planned Parenthood.

Hilary "Get Off My Lawn, FBI" Clinton is a DINO (Democrat in Name Only) and is just as much in the pocket of banks and corporations as any other candidate, except Bernie.

Come now, Point Breeze.  You know that's only like 5% of voters.

  • There's hardly any attention with Bernie, and the discussion nowadays is pretty much drawn to Trump. I haven't pay too much attention to our national politics because there's not much to look out for, which is kind of a shame. I can only hope Bernie pull the young voters to actually outvoting the older generations.

  • Even when I read LIBERAL blogs or newspapers, I see nothing but Trump this, Trump that, Trump everywhere.  It's sickening.  I had no opinion of the man two months ago, now I can't stand him.  It's even worse that there are people that think Trump would actually make a good president.

  • In fairness, Trump is an entertaining sideshow, and American politics has been nothing but a show for a long time. I think most people that support him don't even know what he stands for really, they just like a candidate that isn't "politically correct".

I like Bernie, and it's cool that he's been drawing a lot of crowds in spite of the low amount of media attention he's received, but it's an uphill climb to dethrone Hillary from the throne, and I'm concerned that minorities will just see him as another old white guy, not knowing that he's supported their causes for decades...long before those causes became popular in polls. At some point he's going to have to have more coverage so that people know more about where he stands.

  • My Dear Jean-Luc!
  • Bernie is polling 29% to 47% nationally against Hillary among Democrats and Democrat-leaning independents... and that's despite a large percentage of the country (I think it's around 50%, if not higher) knows nothing about him.  Meanwhile, everyone's heard of Hillary.  I will caucus for Bernie.

As for the republican side, I think Kasich is the only one that could beat Hillary in the general...

  • I'm a Singaporean so it might seem like I have no dog in this fight but my family is from Minnesota (go Twins) and I'm a bit of a political junkie, I'll just share my thoughts on this.

Since I live in a moderately socialist nation, I'd vote for Bernie Sanders since I believe in Socialism to a point and Sanders puts that argument forward rather well. I would never vote for O'Malley (just rubs me as a insincere person) and while I might bring myself to vote for Clinton, she would not be my first choice. Chaffe and Webb are non-entities and Biden does not look like he's running, which is a shame, I like Biden.

If it had to be a Republican, John Kasich and Lindsey Graham are the only ones I would remotely be comfortable with in the White House. While Graham is a bit.... out there on Foreign Policy, he does not like the Tea Party and probably would at least try to engage Democrats. Kasich meanwhile does have a history of bi-partisanship and his tenure at the governors mansion in Ohio is looked at favorably, so if it had to be a Republican he probably would be the best candidate on that side. The rest of the Republican field are either guys I respect but dont think would make good presidents (like Rick Santorum and George Pataki) or are guys who I thoroughly dislike (like Cruz and Huckabee).

That's my humble opinion, at least.

  • Disclosure; I'm British.

From the Republican field Kasich, Huckabee and Paul look and sound alright. Even Christie sounds a bit sane sometimes. The rest, to me, are loonies. I'd say something about Trump but Point Breeze covered it.

For the Democrats, no one compares to Bernie. But then again, I'm from evil taxing socialist welfare Europe!

No no, not kill, "cure". Because LGBT people need to be "cured". If Huckabee fails to take the nomination (god willing) he should feel right at home here in Singapore.
