Outside of our regularly scheduled games, this is where we can discuss everything Civ V! Strategies, problems, requests for help with specific things, ways to improve our games...it can all go here.

I'll admit to downloading a few mods of civilizations based off of MGS and Neptunia characters.

Anime and Kojima hell, here I am to represent.

I haven't really messed with the mods, though I enjoyed them all the way back in Civ II...are they good in general?

I'll have to look...Civ II had this awesome fantasy scenario that shipped with the Fantastic Worlds expansion, and there was also one where you were colonizing Mars that redid everything. I miss things like that...

The Fantastic Worlds and Conflicts in History expansion packs were excellent, and I can't begin to tell you how much of my middle school years were spent playing those and Civ II in general...also had an apocalypse scenario, an alien invasion scenario, an evolution scenario where scientific advances became evolutionary advances...it was awesome, specially for its time.

You guys talking about mods and expansions reminded me: don't know if any of you played Civ IV or its expansions, particularly the beyond the sword expansion.

It came pre-packaged with some really awesome mods but what stands out the most in my memory was a really detailed total overhaul of Civ that instead actually made it more like Galactic Civilisations. It was called Final Frontier, and I found it to be often more difficult and rewarding than the regular game! anyone heard of it or played it?

Honestly, the only Civ games I've played are Civ 5, Civilization Revolution and .... ughhhh.... Civ: Beyond Earth. Damn pre-orders....

Utterly, UTTERLY disappointed. 60 Sing dollars for what basically amounts to a re-skin of Civ 5, but with LESS content, absolutely uninteresting and zombie-like national leaders with ZERO personality, I tried to play it through for my channel but could not bring myself to finish it. Quite frankly, it gets very boring very quickly.

I also have Beyond Earth... It's pretty terrible... I've heard tell of a recent update that fixes some of the problems but didn't add any new CONTENT which is what I thirst for... A wealth of possibilities for a scifi universe and they come out with this bullshit... I was so mad...

Beyond Earth was recently on sale for $20, but that's a bit too expensive for me...I bought Civ V for $17 and I was much more excited about that. Maybe by the time I buy BE it'll be mostly fixed...or not, given how unstable Civ V multiplayer still is. >_>

I would not recommend you buy BE. Let me put it to you like this, I bought Civ 5 in 2012 I think, thereabouts. I still play it today. I bought BE in 2014 and besides a short attempt have not played it beyond the month I bought it. Utterly disappointed.

I just had an interesting idea. Although I have no experience at making mods, it would be cool In my opinion to make mods of our NationStates nations, possibly even make scenarios with them. Any thoughts on that?
