Parts of it can be.

Is it artwork?  Like a painting or picture of sorts?  Frames can be made out of wood, and sometimes people will make them in a way that you can plug them in and they light up.

I didn't even consider a safe.  That's most likely what it'll be.

Well she said it can hang on the wall.

That makes me think clock since:

*Not all clocks are electronic, but some can be
*Bigger clocks (and some smaller clocks) can be made with parts of wood, but again, not all clocks have to be.
*Clocks aren't commonly found in kitchens (unless you count the stove/microwave), but someone may put one in it.
*Nowadays, clocks are more decoration than anything since we can find the time on cell phones, gaming devices, TV, kitchen appliances, and the like.

Technically, those big honking clocks sit on the floor, and they're still at least somewhat common.
