Since the law isn't clear on the exact wording of the week period, I'm going to take it as the fact that the speaker has until the end of the final day in that week time period to choose a Speaker PT.
That being the case, that would mean that I'd have until the end of the day today to choose a Speaker PT, since I wasn't sworn into the position until the 12th, or last Wednesday if you will.
So, I've asked
@Point Breeze, who has graciously accepted the position as our new Speaker PT.
If there's issue with this, you're
more than welcome to make an amendment to the current rules and tweaking the section so that it's more clear. A suggestion being:
The Speaker must choose a Speaker Pro Tempore within exactly one week, the final day ending at the exact time the Speaker election results were posted. If the Speaker fails to choose a Speaker Pro Tempore within this time period, the power will be given to the next running candidate from Speaker elections
Granted, that's a heavily rough draft of said suggested amendment, but you get the idea.
